Auburn Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide CFB Betting

The 2nd-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide visit the Auburn Tigers on Saturday in the latest edition of the Iron Bowl. This year’s game looks like a mismatch, as the Tide come into this game at 10-1 and rolling toward an SEC title game matchup against Georgia next week, while Auburn has lost three straight and is without starting quarterback Bo Nix due to injury. Alabama has won six of the last ten meetings in this series, but Auburn has held their own at home, winning six of the last ten at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Two years ago, it was Auburn winning 48-45 at home. Let’s look at this matchup between Alabama and Auburn.

Alabama Crimson Tide -20

Auburn Tigers +20

Total 56

Odds Analysis

There is little doubt which way this line is going, as the Crimson Tide opened as an 18.5-point favorite and the line is now 20. It would not be a surprise to see it go to 21 before kickoff. The total has been pounded over, as it opened as low as 51.5 in some places and it is now up to 56.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama is 10-1 SU and 6-5 ATS with six games going over the total and five going under. Alabama is averaging 44.4 points per game which is 2nd-best in the country and they are averaging 501.6 yards per game. They are giving up 19.7 points per contest and allowing 304.6 yards per game. Brian Robinson Jr. leads the team with 945 rushing yards, Bryce Young has thrown for 3,584 yards and Jameson Williams leads the team with 1218 receiving yards.

Alabama has lost three of the last four at Auburn, but this year’s Auburn team doesn’t figure to match up well with the Tide. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson Jr. will be playing at Auburn for the first time. “The rivalry means a lot to everyone in the state and means a lot to us.” Young said to the media, “We understand we’re going to a hostile environment."

Auburn Tigers

Auburn is 6-5 SU and 5-6 ATS with five games going over the total and six going under. Auburn is averaging 30.3 points and 428 yards per game and they are giving up 22 points and 371.3 yards per game. Tank Bigsby leads the team with 940 rushing yards, Bo Nix has thrown for 2,294 yards, while Shedrick Jackson has 495 receiving yards.

Auburn will be starting backup T.J. Finley at quarterback. He played poorly last week in a loss to South Carolina as he was just 17 for 32 for 188 yards. If Auburn is to have any chance to stay in this game against Alabama, then Finley will have to be much better than he was a week ago.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers Prediction

Perhaps if Nix was healthy the Tigers might have a chance to stay in this game, but even that would have been questionable. With a backup quarterback under center and facing an Alabama offense that looks unstoppable right now, this game looks like a rout. Oftentimes in rivalry games I will look to take the points, but I just can’t see a scenario in which Auburn keeps this game close. I will lay the points and take Alabama.
