MLB Odds - Atlanta Braves at St. Louis Cardinals MLB Game Preview

Atlanta Braves at St. Louis Cardinals MLB Game Preview

The Atlanta Braves were expected to be one of the more exciting up-and-coming teams in baseball in 2019. That wasn’t necessarily the case early on, but they have turned it up of late to give fans a peek of the potential this group possesses. Atlanta has closed the gap on the Phillies in the National League East and will aim to stay hot on Sunday when they hit the road to face off against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cardinals seem to be in playoff contention every season, and while they are in the midst of a lull right now, this team has the talent to be in the hunt all year long. Both of these teams are eyeing a win when they face off in front of a national audience in MLB wagering.

This MLB game between the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals will be held at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 26th, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

We'll have MLB odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2019 Major League Baseball season.

Odds Analysis

The Braves are 27-23 on the season, which is just 1.5 games behind the Phillies in the N.L. East. Atlanta has won seven of its past 10 games to pull close after sitting around .500 during the start of the season. Atlanta has gone a respectable 13-11 on the road this season and will aim to keep playing well in hostile environments.

The Cardinals are 25-24. They came scorching out of the game with 20 victories in their first 30 games but have stumbled of late. St Louis has lost seven of its past 10 games and needs to recalibrate to remain in the divisional race in the National League Central. The Cardinals are 15-10 at home on the year.

Probable Pitchers

The Braves are projected to send right-hander Julio Teheran to the mound. He is 3-4 with a 3.67 ERA on the season. Teheran has been dominant over his past four starts, allowing one earned run or fewer in all of them to drop his ERA by nearly two full runs in that span. Teheran hasn’t even allowed more than three hits in an outing in those games so clearly his stuff is clicking right now.

The Cardinals will send Jack Flaherty to the hill. He is 4-3 with a 4.19 ERA this season. Flaherty is striking out more than a batter per inning and is coming off a start in which he only gave up two earned runs in six innings pitched against the Rangers. Flaherty isn’t as hot as Teheran but he is a talented hurler in his own right.

Player To Watch

Paul Goldschmidt -- The Braves made a blockbuster move this offseason when they acquired the star first baseman from the Diamondbacks for a bushel of prospects. Goldschmidt is off to a bit of a slow start as he is batting .253 with a .780 OPS. Goldschmidt is getting on base at a healthy clip and does have 10 home runs, but his slugging percentage overall is lagging at only .432.

Goldschmidt had struck out 60 times this season, which is a bit of a concern. It is still early and this is a guy who is able to get red hot on a moment’s notice. If he can touch up Teheran it would have a big effect on the outcome.

Free MLB ATS Picks

The Cardinals get this game at home and even though Teheran has been dominant of late, those streaks have to come to an end at some point. St. Louis will be patient at the plate and strike when the time is right, getting after the Braves starter to help produce a much-needed victory in MLB gambling.

MLB Pick: St. Louis Cardinals 5, Atlanta Braves 4
