NCAA Baseball Odds - Oregon State Beavers vs. Washington Huskies CWS Preview

The Oregon State Beavers entered the College World Series as the favorites to win the national title but have already dug themselves quite the hole. Oregon State lost its opening round game to the North Carolina Tar Heels and will now need to reel off several consecutive wins to make it to the championship series in this double-elimination tournament.

Oregon State will face off against fellow first-round loser the Washington Huskies with the season on the line next time out. The Beavers’ pitching couldn’t hold up against North Carolina and it will need to be better in this one or else they will depart the College World Series quietly.

Washington fell to Mississippi State in an extreme pitcher’s duel in its opener and will be the underdog in this one. Oregon State isn’t done yet but now has a tough road to win the national title. It will aim to take care of business in this matchup against a Pac-12 foe in College World Series gambling.

Odds Analysis

The odds for this contest have not yet been released, but Oregon State entered the College World Series with the best odds to win the national title while Washington held the longest odds, so clearly the Beavers are going to be the favorites in this matchup.

These two teams played three times in the regular season since they are both in the Pac-12. Oregon State emerged victorious in two of the three contests.

Last Time Out

Oregon State ace Luke Heimlich gave up six earned runs in only 2.1 innings, and a late rally fell short as the Beavers fell to North Carolina by a score of 8-6. Oregon State had some defensive lapses as well. This team has a lot of experience but the big stage of Omaha may have resulted in some early nerves.

The Beavers were led on offense by right fielder Trevor Larnach, who finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Trevor Kwan added three hits and the Beavers put up 13 in all, but three errors helped contribute to the loss.

The Huskies lost a close one, 1-0, to Mississippi State in their first-round matchup. The game was tied heading into the bottom of the ninth innings and the Bulldogs came away with the win on a walk-off hit from Luke Alexander.

Washington starter Joe DeMers was fantastic, throwing 7.1 innings of shutout ball, but the offense was missing in action as the Huskies fell to the loser’s bracket. Washington has to get its offense going or else it is in danger of heading home with one more loss in the College World Series.

Free College World Series Picks

Oregon State hit well enough to capture a victory in the first game of the College World Series but pitching and defense let it down. The Beavers should have those issues out of their system and their talent should win out.

It was a nice run for the Huskies to get to this spot but it will end here after two games in the College World Series. Washington is the inferior team and won’t be able to pull another upset.

Don’t count out Oregon State quite yet. It should win this one easily to pull closer to a rematch with North Carolina in order to make it to the national championship series in College World Series betting lines.

College World Series ATS Pick: Oregon State 5, Washington 2
