NCAA Baseball Odds - Bulldogs vs. Beavers CWS Preview

CWS Bulldogs vs Beavers Odds

The Oregon State Beavers lost their opening round matchup at the College World Series but have climbed back to contention. They need to beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs twice to make the national championship series but might just have the talent to do so. The first game between these teams will take place on Friday, with another one Saturday if Oregon State forces it.

The Beavers entered the College World Series as the championship favorites but went immediately into the loser’s bracket. Oregon State has fought through that while Mississippi State has been on a much better path by remaining undefeated to this point.

The Bulldogs would love to forgo the drama and just win the first game between these teams but will be the underdogs to pull that off in NCAA baseball betting lines.

The College World Series contest will be held at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska. The game will take place on Friday, June 22nd, 2018, at 3 p.m. ET. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Odds Analysis

Oregon State should feel good about its chances to force a deciding game as it is the heavy -280 favorite in this one. The Bulldogs are listed as the +200 underdogs. The Beavers are listed at -110 to cover the 2.5-run spread so clearly the oddsmakers don’t think too much about Mississippi State’s chances to wrap up a spot in the national championship series.

The scoring total is listed at 12.5 runs as there could be a lot of offense in this matchup. The College World Series in general has had a majority of high-scoring contests and the oddsmakers may be starting to adjust. The pitching for all teams is also getting thin so it won’t be a big surprise to see the bats to dominate in MLB gambling.

Last Time Out

Oregon State stayed alive by knocking off North Carolina by a score of 11-6 last time out. The Beavers had their backs against the wall, trailing 6-3 heading into the eighth inning, but put up four in that frame and then four more in the ninth to end up cruising to the victory over the Tar Heels. The offensive leader was Adley Rutschman, as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Cadyn Grenier went 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored and Tyler Malone also hit a big fly.

The Beavers used four different pitchers, including ace Luke Heimlich, so it remains to be seen who all will be available for Friday. Oregon State also knows it has to play Saturday to advance but despite the pitching questions the Beavers still have a good chance at pulling off two straight wins.

The Bulldogs won their opener, 1-0, over Washington and then knocked off North Carolina with ease, 12-2, last time out to cruise to this spot. Mississippi State’s pitching has been fantastic and most of the arms should be good to go for this one. The Bulldogs got a huge offensive game last time out from Jordan Westburg, who finished the contest against the Tar Heels 3-for-4 with a home run, double and an insane seven RBIs. If he can come up with more big knocks it will give his team a shot at pulling off the upset.

Free College World Series ATS Picks

Mississippi State is much too big of an underdog in this matchup. Oregon State has the superior talent but not equal to what the oddsmakers are projecting. Even if the Bulldogs don’t win, jump all over the 2.5-run spread.

Mississippi State has the fresher pitching staff and should be able to keep this one closer than projected in MLB betting.

College World Series ATS Pick: Oregon State Beavers 6, Mississippi State Bulldogs 4
