Torino at Chievo Verona - Soccer Props

Chievo Verona have been one of the success stories in Italian soccer. For most of their history, the club was playing at a regional level rather than a national one, but they have had a meteoric rise up the tier system over the last three decades. They went from playing regional soccer in the mid-1980s to playing in Serie A in the early 2000s, and they have spent all but one season at the highest level of Italian soccer since breaking through.

However, the club finds their backs against the wall this season. Chievo Verona were docked three points at the start of the season due to inconsistencies with their bookkeeping, and they are sitting in dead last after six games. They need to start picking up points, and they know they have a decent chance to get some against Torino this week.

Don't miss the Italian Serie A action from Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in Verona, Italy at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Catch every moment of the match live on ESPN News.

Odds Analysis

Torino have not gotten off to a great start this season. The club is currently sitting at 14th in the table coming into this match, and they have only scored five goals through six games. However, they have been very consistent on the road. They have notched a draw in each of their three away matches this season, and that’s exactly what you want to do when you’re a middle-of-the-pack team.

Things looked so promising for Chievo at the start of the season. They nearly picked up a point against Juventus in the season opener after scoring two goals against the long-time champions, but they allowed an injury time goal in the end. Since then, it’s been an uphill battle though, with the club getting blasted by Fiorentina and losing by multiple goals to Udinese and Genoa. They registered draws against Empoli and Roma, but Chievo are still in search of their first victory.

Injury Report

Chievo have two players that are questionable to play in this match. Defenders Mattia Bani and Nenad Tomovic have both been listed as game-time decisions by manager Lorenzo D’Anna. Both players are dealing with thigh injuries.

Torino also have two players listed as questionable for this game. Forward Iago Falque is a concern with a thigh injury, and defender Lyanco Vojnovic may make his long awaited return. Vojnovic has been out since February of last year after suffering a serious foot injury, and he is close to getting back on the field.

Player to Watch

Simone Zaza is still looking for his first goal as a part of Torino. The Italian forward was brought over from Valencia on a year-long loan, and Torino is anxious for him to make his presence felt. Zaza has flashed a lot of potential over his career, but he has yet to fully cash in on his promise. The club has been far too reliant on Andrea Belotti to find its goals, and with Falque in doubt, Zaza needs to step forward.

Serie A Prop Bet – Halftime and fulltime draw at +431

Torino have been very good at picking up draws on the road, and there is good value in this option as both teams have played relatively low-scoring matches thus far. That ups the probability of a draw, and a 0-0 or 1-1 final score seems to have a good chance of happening. There’s a bit more risk betting on the halftime draw too, but that’s what makes the pot so sweet.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

The draw is a very good bet in this match considering these teams’ tendencies. Chievo just don’t have many scoring options, and Zaza has not proven to be a reliable scoring threat.
