Inter Milan at Juventus - Serie A Soccer Goal Lines

By  Jonathan Willis

Tuesday, December 4th, 2018

Juventus have distanced themselves from the pack, and they are now heavy favorites to win a record eighth straight Serie A title. Italy’s top team throughout the decade is now eight points up on second-place Napoli, and Juventus have secured a win in 13 of their 14 league games this season. Inter Milan know that they have a tall task in front of them if they are to upset Juventus in Turin, but they have the talent to do it.

Don't miss the Italian Serie A action from Juventus Stadium in Turin, Italy at 2:30 p.m. ET on Friday, December 7, 2018. Catch every moment of the match live on ESPN2.

Odds Analysis

Coming into this match, Inter Milan are in third place in Serie A. Inter are just three points back of Napoli in the race for second place, and they have some breathing room on city rivals AC Milan (currently in fourth) if they happen to fall. This is an incredibly important week for Inter. Not only do they face Juventus on Friday, they also face PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday in a match they must win to have a chance of advancing to the knockout rounds of the Champions League. In their last match, Inter played AS Roma to a 2-2 draw with Keita Balde Diao and Mauro Icardi scoring for the club.

Only one team has managed to win a point off of Juventus in Serie A this year. Genoa were able to secure a 1-1 draw with Juventus in Turin in mid-October, but Juventus have been the best team in the league by a wide margin. They have won each of their last four league games by multiple goals, and they don’t have to worry about Champions League qualification after defeating Valencia at home last week.

Injury Report

For Inter Milan, Dalbert Henrique is dealing with a calf injury and he will miss the next couple weeks as he recovers from it. Radja Nainggolan came off the pitch with an ankle injury against Tottenham, and his status for this game is up in the air, while Sime Vrsaljko is questionable because of multiple injuries.

Juventus will probably be without Sami Khedira once more as the former Real Madrid midfielder continues to recover from a sprained ankle. Alex Sandro continues to battle a hip flexor injury and his status is up in the air. The good news for the club is that Emre Can will be back in action once more.

Player to Watch

Don’t tell Italians that Cristiano Ronaldo is in his twilight years. Ronaldo has shown that he still has a lot to offer at the age of 33, and he is currently tied for the league lead in goals. He didn’t break through until his fourth game of the season, but he has notched 10 goals in his last 11 Serie A games. Ronaldo is certainly the favorite to end the season as the league’s leading scorer, and he has taken large percentage of Juventus’ shots. He has taken at least five shots in each of Juventus’ last eight games, and expect that to continue here.

Serie A Prop Bet – Juventus Over 1.5 goals at -151

Inter Milan have the best defense in Italy, but Juventus are playing at home and this offense is incredibly dangerous. Additionally, Inter won’t have full rest after playing on Sunday, and that will hurt their chances of bottling this attack up. I expect Juventus to score at least two goals.

Juventus have simply been too good to go against at home. They looked shaky early on in the campaign, but they have really rounded into form over the last couple months. I can see Inter getting a result in Milan, but not in Turin.
