Tottenham Hotspur at Liverpool - Premier League Odds

Liverpool continues to fight Manchester City tooth and nail for the top spot in the Premier League. This has been the most thrilling title race in quite some time, and the Reds have the advantage for now. They are up two points on City, but they also have one more game in the bank, so they need to get three points in each of their last seven matches. Fortunately for long-suffering Liverpool fans, they only have to play two more Big Six clubs, and they will face both of those teams at home. The first of those games will happen on Sunday when Liverpool hosts Tottenham Hotspur.

Odds Analysis

It’s been a tough last two months for Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs seemed set to finish third in the Premier League after a very strong start to the campaign, but they have not won a league match since beating Leicester City 3-1 on February 10. Since that win, they have lost to Burnley, Chelsea, and Southampton, and their lone result was a 1-1 draw with Arsenal. They have made it to the Champions League Quarterfinals, but a loss here puts their hopes of making it back to the Champions League in real danger.

Liverpool know a thing or two about blowing leads. They had a pretty sizable lead over Manchester City in December, but they let that lead slip away and the Reds fell behind City once again after a 0-0 draw to rivals Everton at the start of the month. Liverpool have done what they have needed to in order to stay close with a 4-2 win over Burnley and a 2-1 victory over Fulham, but this is their first real test since facing Manchester United on February 24.

The first meeting between these two teams was relatively one-sided. Although Tottenham controlled the ball for more time, Liverpool took 10 shots on goal and didn’t need to long to break through after a Georginio Wijnaldum goal in the 39th minute. Roberto Firmino doubled the advantage for Liverpool shortly after the break, and Spurs could only muster an Erik Lamela injury time goal in response.

Key Injuries

Eric Dier suffered an injury while playing for England over the international break, and he will not be able to suit up for Tottenham here. Spurs are also unlikely to have Serge Aurier, who is listed as doubtful because of a strained hamstring. Harry Winks is questionable despite a strained hip flexor.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez are both doubtful for Liverpool. Trent Alexander-Arnold is questionable to play, but it looks like Jurgen Klopp is likely to have both Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita available for selection.

Player to Watch

Sadio Mane has been huge for Liverpool in recent weeks. He netted a brace against Burnley and added another goal against Fulham, and he has picked up his scoring with Mo Salah failing to have the same impact he did last year. Mane is one of the top forwards in England.

Prop Bet – Will Both Teams Score? Yes -133

It’s hard to see either team shutting the other out, even though both defenses are really good. These teams have fantastic offensive options with Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, and Son Heung-min on Spurs, and Mane, Salah, and Roberto Firmino on the side of Liverpool.

I think the over is also a good bet in this match, but my favorite play is the prop on both teams to score.
