Matchday 4 Premier League Odds Report

What everyone believed at the start of the season has come to fruition as the Premier League race is indeed a two-horse race. Liverpool and Manchester City have been far and away the two best teams in England this season, and they are two of four teams that have yet to lose this season. Both sides have already separated themselves from the pack though, and each team is a hefty favorite per the EPL betting odds this week.

August 31

Newcastle United +150
Watford FC +193
Draw +223
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

Through three games, these look like two of the worst teams in the Premier League. Watford and Newcastle United are both currently in the relegation zone, and the Hornets are the only team in the EPL without a point to their credit this year. Still, they have looked better than a Newcastle side that was incredible fortunate to pick up a win over Tottenham Hotspur last week, and Watford are a live road dog against the Toon.

Leicester City -144
AFC Bournemouth +365
Draw +311
Over/Under 3

Give credit to Brendan Rodgers. Leicester City are one of the other unbeaten teams aside from the top two clubs, and the Foxes have done well to secure points against both Wolverhampton and Chelsea. Bournemouth are a better team than their record indicates, but they may continue to slump as Leicester are in fine form.

Burnley FC +728
Liverpool FC -277
Draw +421
Over/Under 3

The Clarets nearly pulled out a win over Wolverhampton in Molineux Stadium last week, taking a 1-0 lead deep into extra time until a poor challenge gave Wolves a gift point from a Raul Jimenez. Burnley look sharp again now that they don’t have to worry about European play, so Liverpool will be tested in their quest to keep their unblemished record.

Southampton FC +262
Manchester United +106
Draw +247
Over/Under 2.5

The Red Devils were incredibly unfortunate to lose to Crystal Palace last week. Manchester United dominated that match from start to finish, yet they were dealt a 2-1 loss as David de Gea helped gift the visitors a win. This team has looked sharp through three weeks, and United are likely to pick up a win over Southampton.

Manchester City -1250
Brighton & Hove Albion +3041
Draw +994
Over/Under 3.5 and 4

We’re reaching absurd levels when it comes to odds on Manchester City games. The Citizens are going to be heavy favorites in every game except their two matches with Liverpool in league play, and they are expected to pummel Brighton this weekend.

Chelsea FC -277
Sheffield United +753
Draw +406
Over/Under 2.5 and 3

The Blades are off to a great start given the low expectations everyone had for the newly promoted club. Sheffield United fell to a solid Leicester City last weekend, but they did not play poorly and could have salvaged a point. Any sort of result will be much more difficult this week against a Chelsea side that are eager to prove themselves after a poor start to the year.

Crystal Palace +121
Aston Villa +233
Draw +236
Over/Under 2.5

What is going on with Wilfried Zaha? Zaha was hotly pursued by Manchester United and other clubs over the summer, but Palace held onto their young forward even though there were reportedly offers of 80 million pounds or more for his services. He has not played well this season, and the club needs him to step it up given their lack of other options up top.

West Ham United -113
Norwich City +271
Draw +301
Over/Under 3 and 3.5

The Canaries are going to be fun this season. Norwich played another thriller with Chelsea last weekend, and Teemu Pukki is tied for the league lead with five goals on the year. They will keep the pedal to the metal against a West Ham team that likes to play a similar style this weekend.

September 1

Everton FC +115
Wolverhampton Wanderers +259
Draw +227
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

It appears that Wolverhampton is the latest team to be hard done by Europa League qualifying, but the Wanderers haven’t been getting pummeled as we saw with Burnley last year. They have played to draws in their first three matches, and they are likely to turn things around to climb the standings in a couple weeks. However, Wolves must face Torino for a spot in the Europa League Group Stage on Thursday, and that will leave them fatigued for this match.

Arsenal FC +135
Tottenham Hotspur +184
Draw +269
Over/Under 3

This London Derby is significantly spicier after Tottenham’s disappointing start to the season. Spurs were unlucky to lose to Newcastle, but they were a little fortunate to beat Aston Villa, and they are unlikely to have star signing Tanguy Ndombele for this match. That gives Arsenal the upper hand as they are at home and their signing (Nicolas Pepe) has looked very good in the first few games.
