There’s no question when it comes to the Premier League game that people are most looking forward to this weekend. Liverpool are currently at the top of the table. They are the one team that has yet to drop a point, and they are looking like the team with the best chance of stopping Manchester City. The Reds will face a tough test this week though when they travel to take on Chelsea. The Blues are currently sitting in third and are one of three teams that has yet to lose.

Don't miss the English Premier League action from Stamford Bridge in London at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Catch every moment of the match live on NBCSN.

Odds Analysis

Chelsea have gotten off to a strong start under new manager Maurizio Sarri. Although they have looked a bit shaky at the back at times, their attack has improved markedly under his guidance. They knocked in 14 goals in their first five matches (all wins), but their attack failed them last week against West Ham and Chelsea were forced to settle for a draw.

This Liverpool squad is looking to grab the club’s first Premier League title. The Reds are off to a smashing start, and they have picked up crucial road wins against tricky foes like Tottenham and Leicester City. They looked superb in their victory over Paris Saint-Germain last weekend too, proving they can take down the best teams in Europe.

Key Injuries

Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are the two scratches for Liverpool, and manager Jurgen Klopp is hoping to have Virgil van Dijk available for this match. The Dutch international is dealing with a chest injury, and he is listed as probable to play. Adam Lallana is listed as doubtful, but he would be unlikely to feature even if he were healthy.

Marco van Ginkel is a long-term injury for Chelsea, and he is the only definitive scratch. Pedro and Antonio Rudiger are both considered questionable to play with the former dealing with a shoulder issue, while the latter is nursing a groin injury. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is doubtful to play with a lower leg injury.

Last Meeting

Coincidentally enough, these teams played on Wednesday in the third round of the Football League Cup. In that match, both sides used a mixture of starters and reserves to start and then brought on their best players as second half substitutes.

That match was in Liverpool, but Chelsea got the best of it and won 2-1. The Blues cancelled out a Daniel Sturridge goal with scores from Emerson and Eden Hazard in quick succession late in the second half, and that led to Chelsea getting the victory. That has to give Chelsea a good bit of confidence heading into this match.

Prop Bet of the Game – Over 3 goals at +106

Chelsea and Liverpool boast some of the most impressive players in the Premier League, and both of these clubs have very offensive mindsets. We saw that dynamic in their cup match earlier in the week, as both managers had their teams play loose and that led to three second-half goals as the starters came on.

With the starters playing from the onset this Saturday, the alternate over is looking strong. This match could easily have five or more goals when it’s all said and done, so over three is a good play.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

Although this one is being played in Stamford Bridge, I see Liverpool getting revenge for their cup defeat in a thrilling victory over Chelsea. Hazard will have his chances, but Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane will be too much and that will lead to a Liverpool win.
