EPL Betting Odds – West Bromwich Albion at Manchester United Match Preview

Premier-League-West-Brom-at-Manchester-United-bm-4-12

If West Brom has any hope of pulling itself out of regulation, it absolutely must win its match against Manchester United this Sunday. West Brom is currently in dead last in the Premier League, and is 10 points away from safety with five games to play. The Baggies’ task is already next to impossible, but a loss would essentially seal their fate and see them in Championship next year.

Manchester United are still holding on to slim hopes of their own. Their come from behind win against Manchester City meant that they still had at least a mathematical chance of winning the Premier League this season. They are 13 points down with six matches to play and need every win they can grab the rest of the way.

Odds Analysis

Manchester United are a massive favorite in this match-up. The Red Devils have looked great recently, winning each of their last five. That has assured them of a spot in the Champions League next season, and they are currently in second place in the standings.

Meanwhile, West Brom was finally able to stop the bleeding with a draw against Swansea after dropping nine straight matches. That skid is likely to mean relegation for the Baggies, but an improbable win here would at least forestall the drop.

These teams met shortly before Christmas last year with Manchester United emerging from The Hawthorns with a 2-1 victory. United broke open the scoring with a great goal from Romelu Lukaku, and then doubled their lead shortly afterwards after Ahmed Hegazi had a Jesse Lingard shot bounce off of him and into the net.

West Brom had its share of chances though. David de Gea proved up to the test in making some nice saves and the goal he conceded was not his fault as United made a mess of defending a corner.

Key Injuries

Manchester United have a couple injuries to report heading into this match. Left back Daley Blind and center back Phil Jones have been out for two months each, and both are expected to miss this match too. Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini are each expected to be available for selection by Jose Mourinho though.

The visitors have received some very good news on the injury front. Nacer Chadli and Sam Field have been declared match ready and played for the U23 club over the weekend. That will give the team a boost as other key pieces like Jonny Evans and Daniel Sturridge are unlikely to play.

Player to Watch

Paul Pogba and Mourinho have a love-hate relationship, but it’s clear that Pogba is the most talented player on the team. He sparked the comeback against Manchester City with a brace, and he showed why United broke the bank to land him in the offseason.

The midfielder is a sensational playmaker when he is locked in. He loves to push forward on the attack, and while that leaves United open for the counter, it also makes them dangerous when he is pressing. He is one of the most well-rounded players in the world and he will look to net some more goals this week against lowly West Brom.

It’s really hard to go against Manchester United in this situation. The Red Devils are playing at home and have been red-hot recently. West Brom may have packed it in already at this point, as the whole roster will be blown up when they move to Championship this offseason. With that in mind, back the home side here and play the over too.

English Premier League Odds: Manchester United 3, West Brom 1
