EPL Betting Odds – Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur

The race for England’s Champions League spots is heating up with a little more than two months left in the Premier League season. There’s no question that Liverpool will win its first Premier League title, and that Manchester City will finish in the top four, but there will be plenty of drama surrounding England’s other two spots in the most prestigious competition in football. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are two of the clubs vying for those lucrative spots, but they are heading in opposite directions coming into Sunday’s game.

Odds Analysis

This game will be played without fans as professional leagues continue to deal with the rapid spread of COVID-19. That will hurt Tottenham Hotspur, as they could really use some home field advantage at this point. Spurs are in eighth place with 41 points, and they have not registered a win in league play since topping Aston Villa 3-2 on February 16.

Tottenham failed to get past Chelsea three weeks ago, and only a Chelsea own goal made the final score line of 2-1 respectable. Wolverhampton overcame two one-goal deficits to beat Spurs on March 1, and Tottenham could not get past Burnley last weekend. They were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw in Turf Moor with Dele Alli’s penalty conversion being the team’s lone goal.

The Red Devils have not lost since they fell to Burnley 2-0 on January 22. Manchester United has only allowed one goal in its last five league games, and that has the club sitting just three points behind Chelsea for fourth place in the Premier League.

Manchester United drew to nil with Wolverhampton at the start of February, and they hammered Chelsea and Watford by a combined score of 5-0 in their next two matches. The Red Devils snagged a point on the road against Everton on March 1, but their biggest victory came last week when they beat city rivals Manchester City 2-0 with goals from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay.

Key Injuries

Son Heung-Min might miss the rest of the season after fracturing his arm in mid-February, and Steven Bergwijn is likely to miss the rest of the season too after going down with a severe sprained ankle last week. Harry Kane will miss at least another month with a thigh injury, and Moussa Sissoko is expected to be sidelined for another two weeks with a knee injury. Ben Davies will miss at least one more game with a strained hamstring, while Juan Marcos Foyth is doubtful and Davinson Sanchez is questionable.

Marcus Rashford continues to be out for the Red Devils, and Lee Grant is still recovering from an injury he suffered last month. Anthony Martial and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are both questionable to play, while Paul Pogba is doubtful.

Matchup to Watch

When Kane and Son went down with injury, many expected Spurs to stop scoring. However, Tottenham has continued to score at a decent clip with four goals in its last three games. The back line has struggled though, allowing six goals in that stretch, putting Spurs behind the eight ball.

Manchester United were expected to have trouble scoring too when Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford both went down with injuries, but Anthony Martial has taken his game to another level. Martial has three goals in his last four league games, helping keep the Red Devils on the upswing.

The lack of fans will hurt Spurs on Sunday, but Manchester United’s attack will provide the decisive blow.
