Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Odds

Two of the top teams in the Premier League will clash on Monday when Tottenham Hotspur host league leaders Manchester City. Tottenham are out to deal City their first loss of the season and hop them in the standings, while City are looking to maintain their position atop the league table. This is one of the most important regular season matches to date this year as a Tottenham loss leaves them with work to do in both the league and their quest to return to the Champions League next season.

Don't miss the English Premier League action from Wembley Stadium in London at 3 p.m. ET on Monday, October 29, 2018. Catch every moment of the match live on NBCSN.

Odds Analysis

Manchester City have performed exactly how they were expected to this season. Last year’s champions have continued their reign of terror over the rest of the teams in England, and they are 7-2-0 through their first nine games. They have hammered lesser foes like Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City, and Fulham, and that has given them a goal differential advantage that is unlikely to be surpassed over the course of the year. The two times they failed to get the full three points were on the road against Wolverhampton and Liverpool.

Spurs hopes of advancing in the Champions League are pretty much dead in the water following losses to Barcelona and Inter Milan coupled with a draw against PSV in the first round robin, so they are just playing for domestic glory now. Tottenham are 7-0-2 and tied with Chelsea and Arsenal in terms of points, but the goal differential hasn’t been great, and they have needed late goals to get three points against a few of their opponents. Spurs two losses this season came at home to Liverpool and on the road against Watford.

Key Injuries

Jan Vertonghen and Vincent Janssen are long-term scratches, and neither player will be available for Spurs here. However, the club is largely healthy aside from that. Dele Alli is ready to play again after picking up a thigh injury, and Danny Rose is considered probably to play in this one too despite a groin issue.

City won’t have five players available for this match, and four of the five are long-term injuries. Claudio Bravo, Philippe Sandler, Eliaquim Mangala, and Danilo won’t be available for some time longer, but Ilkay Gundogan should return to the lineup soon even though he’ll miss this match.

Player to Watch

After winning the World Cup with France during the summer, some believed that Hugo Lloris was making steps towards being the best goalkeeper in England. However, Lloris has been a horrorshow this season. He was arrested for a drink-driving charge last month, and he has also battled injuries this year. In his last match, he picked up a red card for a pointless studs up challenge against PSV in the Champions League, and as a result he is unlikely to feature in the team’s remaining three Group Stage matches.

Now, Lloris must face the best offense in England. He allowed seven goals in two matches against Manchester City last season, and that has to be going through his head prior to this one.

Prop Bet of the Game – Manchester City 3 or more goals at +145

Manchester City are averaging just under three goals per game in league play this season, and they have gotten the better of Tottenham a lot recently. The Citizens have Kevin De Bruyne back, and it’s full speed ahead for the offense at this point. Given Lloris’ woes, I think City will net plenty in this one.

The over is likely a good play in this one too, as I believe Manchester City will score early and Tottenham will need to chase throughout. Expect a statement game from City here, as Spurs early season woes are compounded.

English Premier League Odds: Manchester City 4, Tottenham Hotspur 1
