EPL Betting Odds – Arsenal at Huddersfield Town Match Preview

Premier-League-Game-of-the-Week-bm-5-10-18

After 22 years at the helm of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger will call it quits after this game. Wenger has had a great run. He is the longest-tenured manager in the Premier League by a wide margin, and he has had a ton of success.

Unfortunately, nearly all of that success came in the first decade of his tenure. The clamor for Wenger to be sacked has grown considerably over the last few seasons, and he may have been fired if he didn’t step down. He will look to go out with a bang with one last victory over Huddersfield Town.

Don't miss the English Premier League action from John Smith’s Stadium at 10 a.m. ET on Sunday, May 13, 2018.

Odds Analysis

The partying has yet to stop for Huddersfield Town. The Terriers ensured that they were staying up with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Wednesday. Coming into the year, the oddsmakers had Huddersfield Town as the most likely team to go down to Championship according to the Premier League betting odds. However, they have done just enough to stay out of the relegation zone.

Manager David Wagner has given his team the next 48 hours off in order to celebrate the accomplishment. The team started to raucously celebrate immediately following the draw with Chelsea, and you can be sure that the team will not be 100 percent well-rested heading into their bout with Arsenal.

Key Injuries

Because it’s the last game of the season and it means little to either side, no one with any sort of knock is expected to play. Unfortunately, it’s already too little, too late for Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny. Koscielny suffered an Achilles tear in the Gunners’ loss to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League Semifinals and will be out well into next season. That’s a major blow to both Arsenal and France.

Additionally, Arsenal will be without Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla. Ozil injured his back against Atletico and Cazorla has been sidelined for some time with a plantaris injury. Mohamed Elneny is expected to miss the match as well.

Huddersfield will not have three players in the line-up for this match. Forward Elias Kachunga will miss the match with an ankle injury, while midfielder Danny Williams suffered a broken ankle recently and will probably miss the early part of next season too. Defender Michael Hefele is very unlikely to play with a knee injury.

Player to Watch

Alex Iwobi is likely to see a lot of time in this match. Iwobi came up in the Arsenal youth system and it looks like he might be finally starting to develop as a talent. Starts have come few and far between for him over the years, but the 22-year old has shown some flashes of brilliance this season.

Iwobi did not have a good performance against Leicester City on Wednesday. To be fair, Arsenal was down to 10 men rather quickly, but he was outplayed by teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and countryman Kelechi Iheanacho. With a new manager incoming, Iwobi may need to show something in his last match in order to stay with the club. Otherwise, he may not be at the Emirates in 2018-19.

It’s been a disappointing year for Arsenal, but they have been good at blowing out the teams that sit at the bottom of the Premier League. Huddersfield Town is not going to be anywhere close to match fit and will be celebrating into Saturday. There’s a reason that the books have Arsenal as a big road favorite here. Don’t overthink it. The Gunners will want to send off Wenger with a win and Huddersfield have already done what they wanted this year. No one will be disappointed with a blowout loss on their side.

English Premier League Odds: Arsenal 4, Huddersfield Town 1
