Presidential Election Betting: On Monday morning, presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris became the slight betting favorite against Republican nominee Donald Trump. This change in the betting odds has been a remarkable turnaround against Trump, who led President Joe Biden by such a solid margin that Biden was forced to drop out of the race. When Trump survived an assassination attempt, and the Republicans held a flawless convention a few days later, many pundits wrote off the election as a fait accompli for Trump. But Harris has benefited from being a young, vigorous fresh face with a fawning “news” media action as her PR agent while Trump has been all over the map. With the Democrat convention in Chicago set to open next Monday, August 19, the momentum is with Harris. But as we have seen, a week is an eternity in politics.

Harris Tabs Walz for VP
Kamala Harris made her first big decision last week by picking left-wing extremist Tim Walz, governor of Minnesota, as her running mate. Walz was a curious choice in that he comes from a state that automatically votes Democrat for president every cycle. His record is to the left of almost all Democrats, including Harris, which is saying a lot.
Walz’s “accomplishments” include making Minnesota a sanctuary state for minors to have gender-altering surgery, a haven for extreme late-term abortions, and putting tampons in grade schoolboys’ restrooms. Additionally, he said he would supply a ladder to the border to aid illegal immigrants if Trump built his wall. There is nothing even remotely moderate about Walz.
In addition to all that, Walz let large sections of Minneapolis burn to the ground in the summer of 2020 George Floyd riots. He sat and did nothing during the inferno before finally deploying the National Guard after it was far too late to matter.
Walz also has a dubious record, claiming credit for serving in the Iraq War yet cutting and running for the tall grass with an early retirement right before it started.
Many pundits and gamblers expected Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro to be picked instead of Walz. Pennsylvania is considered the most important state in the election and the key to victory and the White House. But Shapiro is ambitious and Jewish. There was a sense that the Democrats didn’t want to lose the valuable Muslim vote in Michigan regarding the perpetual Middle East conflicts between Israel and Hamas. But there is also the theory that Harris did not want a running mate such as Shapiro who would outshine her. In Walz, she gets a middle-aged white male buffoon, who is one of the few politicians that makes Harris look comparatively better.
In essence, Walz is playing the role of Joe Biden, who served as the Vice President of Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017. Biden was the designated white guy and clown who balanced the optics of the Democratic ticket. This was an attempted con to get the white working class to vote for Obama, and it worked somewhat effectively in the 2012 election but not nearly as much in the 2016 re-election campaign.
Harris Can Run, but Can She Hide?
Kamala Harris is carefully avoiding all interviews and questions from the media. Considering that the media is her personal valets and steno pool, it’s curious what Harris is nervous about. The question is if the “news” media will tolerate being ignored from now through election day. Chances are, they are fine with it if it means Harris wins.
It will be up to Trump to smoke out Harris himself.
