UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs. Lemos Betting

Marina Rodriguez (16-1-2, 6-1-2 UFC)

Rodriguez came into the UFC with a record of 10-0 and she has six wins, one loss, and two draws in the UFC. She defeated Jessica Aguilar by unanimous decision, Tecia Torres by unanimous decision, Amanda Ribas by TKO, Michelle Waterson by unanimous decision, Mackenzie Dern by unanimous decision, and Yan Xiaonan by split decision; while losing to Carla Esparza by split decision, and fighting to a draw against Randa Markos Cynthia Calvillo by majority. Rodriguez has been a pro since 2015 and she has six wins by TKO/KO and one by submission. She has four first round finishes.

Rodriguez said this to sherdog.com about her upcoming fight against Lemos, “Lemos is a super tough athlete. She’s very strong, both physically and mentally. Though I don’t believe she has yet faced all the toughest girls in our division. When she fought Jessica Andrade, she was submitted. I believe our fight will be electrifying. I’m sure the winner will be whoever is hungriest – whoever wants to have their arm raised more. You can be sure that it will be me. I have a singular objective in the UFC – that is to get to the belt and to become champion. I know it will be a tough fight between us. The fans will be the real winners.”

UFC Picks

Rodriguez is listed as about a 2-1 favorite in this fight. She has won four straight fights since losing a split decision to Esparza. Lemos has won six of her eight UFC fights and four of those wins came by stoppage. Rodriguez will have the advantage on the mat but she doesn’t have much KO power. Lemos has plenty of power and she gets into some wild battles. This fight will be one in which Rodriguez defends against Lemos and looks to counter. Based on what we have seen so far, Rodriguez should be able to defend the attacks from Lemos.

I think Rodriguez is the better fighter and she will be able to win this fight that goes the distance. I am never thrilled to be laying 2-1 but I can’t see a real path to victory for Lemos in this fight. The way that Lemos wins is to put pressure on her opponent and find a way to finish. That seems unlikely against Rodriguez. I’ll take Rodriguez in this fight and also go over the rounds total.
