UFC Picks
The obvious question you have to ask in this fight is whether you want to lay 4-1 on Pyfer. There is a lot to like, as he comes into this fight unbeaten, but his UFC experience is limited, with just two fights. Alhassan has been decent in the UFC, but if Pyfer is truly an up-and-coming star then he doesn’t figure to have much of a shot. The question is whether or not Pyfer is a future star. Pyfer has shown excellent power in his fights, so there is no question he can hurt Alhassan in this fight. Pyfer also has some submission skills, although it doesn’t look like he will need them in this fight.
Alhassan is 2-2 since going to middleweight and he is coming off a knockout win over Claudio Ribeiro. Alhassan also has good power, so this should be an exciting fight for as long as it lasts.
The price on Pyfer is definitely too high for me, so that means looking at the rounds. The rounds are listed at 1.5 which makes it a little trick to play the under. The UFC odds are definitely shaded to the under at -200 which is another problem. I definitely lean to the under but I am wary of the big price at -200 and I also am not thrilled about the 1.5 option. What may be the better choice is simply to take Pyfer to win by knockout, as that seems to be the most likely scenario and we’ll get a better price than the 4-1 odds on him to win the fight. I also think making a small wager on Alhassan to win by knockout is worth considering, as I still think there is some doubt as to whether or not Pyfer is a future star.
