Cory McKenna (5-1, UFC debut)

McKenna will be making her UFC debut this Saturday. In her last fight, she defeated Crystal Vanessa Demopoulos by unanimous decision on August 11, 2020. McKenna’s only loss in her career was against Micol DiSegni by split decision on September 29, 2018. McKenna has been a pro since 2018 and she has two wins by TKO/KO and one by submission. She has two first round finishes.

McKenna said this to ufc.com about her upcoming fight against Hansen, “Experience wise it is pretty even due to me having such an extensive amateur career and I don't really regard age as a factor that comes into play. I truly believe that I am the hardest working athlete in the division and have left no stone unturned, so I think my mentality and work ethic will give me all the edge I need. I also have a very heavy grappling base in most of my fights, which I feel is often overlooked. I don't necessarily plan to take it to the ground, but I am certainly not shy of it going there. The only pressure I feel is what I put on myself. Those accolades about my age and where I’m from and what I’m doing are awesome but my eyes are set on that championship title, so there's still a long road to go and it starts on Saturday.”

Kay Hansen (7-3, 1-0 UFC)

Hansen came into the UFC with a record of 6-3 and she has one win and no losses in the UFC. She defeated Jinh Yu Frey by armbar submission. Hansen’s last loss in her career was against Magdaléna Šormová by split decision on May 3, 2019. Hansen has been a pro since 2017 and she has two wins by TKO/KO and four by submission. She has one first round finish.

UFC Picks

We don’t know a ton about McKenna since this will be her UFC debut, but we don’t know much more about Hansen, as this is just her second UFC fight. What we do know is that Hansen wants to find a way to get this to the mat and get a submission. I don’t know that McKenna is going to oblige, and even if the fight does go to the mat, I am not sure Hansen has much of an edge. This is a tough one to call. There is probably a little value on McKenna, but I think the better choice is to take the rounds over the total.
