Did you notice the odds for this fight? Ladd has not fought in almost two years and she is taking this fight on short notice and yet she is listed as the favorite against Dumont. Ladd has a ton of talent and has the skills necessary to be a title contender in the UFC, but she has also had her share of problems. She has had a very public battle making weight for fights, including two weeks ago when her fight against Macy Chaisson was cancelled. The good news for Ladd is that this fight will take place at featherweight so she should have no trouble making weight.

Ladd was last seen in December of 2019 when she defeated Yana Kunitskaya. Ladd was supposed to fight in June of last year against Sara McMann but she tore her ACL and MCL and had to withdraw. The only loss for Ladd in her career came by TKO against Germaine de Randamie in July of 2019 and Ladd said the fight was stopped far too quickly and that she could have continued.

Dumont has won six of her seven fights but it is hard to get too excited about her two wins against Ashlee Evans-Smith and Felicia Spencer.

I don’t like taking fighters coming off a long layoff and I rarely take fighters taking bouts on short notice, but I think this is a really good spot for Ladd. I don’t think there is any question she is the better fighter than Dumont and has more ways to win. I also like the fact that she is listed as the favorite. Oddsmakers don’t make many mistakes and if they are listing Ladd as the favorite, they have a reason. I think we could be getting a bargain price simply because Ladd has been out of action for so long. I’ll lay the short price and look for Ladd to get the win.
