UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Prochazka Betting

Valentina Shevchenko (22-3, 11-2 UFC)

Shevchenko came into the UFC with a record of 11-1 and she has 11 wins and two losses in the UFC. In her last six fights, she has six wins and no losses. She defeated Jessica Eye by KO, Liz Carmouche by unanimous decision, Katlyn Chookagian by TKO, Jennifer Maia by unanimous decision, Jessica Andrade by TKO, and Lauren Murphy by TKO.

Shevchenko’s last loss in her career was against Amanda Nunes by split decision in September of 2017. Shevchenko has been a pro since 2003 and she has eight wins by TKO/KO and seven by submission. She has seven first round finishes.

Shevchenko said this to mmanews.com about her upcoming fight against Santos, “I think that she is a very strong fighter. She has like, a lot of physical power, and everything.

Another thing, fighting for the title, it requires to be the best from the other girls, who are like, behind her. That’s why it’s always — I am preparing my best, my 100% for everything… I respect all my contenders, all my opponents, and this makes me, not underestimate their skills, but also seeing their weak sides.”

Taila Santos (19-1, 4-1 UFC)

Santos came into the UFC with a record of 15-0 and she has four wins and one loss in the UFC. She defeated Molly McCann by unanimous decision, Gillian Robertson by unanimous decision, Roxanne Modafferi by unanimous decision, and Joanne Wood by rear-naked choke submission; while losing to Mara Romero Borella by split decision. Santos has been a pro since 2013 and she has 10 wins by TKO/KO and three by submission. She has 12 first round finishes.

Santos said this to clutchpoints.com about her upcoming fight against Shevchenko, “I believe I’m taking this fight to the ground. Valentina is a very tough fighter. Her strong suit is in the striking game, but I believe I can be successful on the ground. She’s very tough on the feet. She has defeated some really tough fighters. She’s also really smart, but I believe I’ll find success on the ground. That’s where I feel super comfortable. I come from a muay thai school, so I also feel great on the feet. However, I see her weaknesses on the ground, so I believe that’s the area where I’ll find success in the fight.”

UFC Picks

Shevchenko is listed as a big favorite in this fight and I simply don’t lay big prices. She will probably win this fight but laying 6-1 is really high. I would like to make a case for Santos, but I just can’t see her winning this fight. She would have to get the fight to the mat and then find a way to get a submission. Santos seems to think she has the edge on the ground, but I am not so sure and I don’t know that she can get this fight to the ground anyway. This fight may end up as Shevchenko defending against takedowns and getting in her shots while the fight is standing. It may take some time, but Shevchenko should grind out a win. Since I am not laying 6-1, I’ll just take the rounds to go over the total.
