NHL Live Betting Odds – Sharks vs. Blues Game 4

NHL Live Betting Odds

The St. Louis Blues had game three of their Western Conference Final series against the San Jose Sharks in hand. St. Louis rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take a 4-3 lead which they were holding with just over a minute to go. But Logan Couture tied the game at the 18:59 mark to send it into overtime. And that is where all hell broke loose. Erik Karlsson got the highly controversial game winning goal at the 5:23 mark of the extra session. Factoring greatly in Karlsson’s winning goal was an illegal hand pass that all four on-ice officials missed. By NHL rule a hand pass is not subject to video review. Thus, the Sharks got away with yet another one this playoff season.

Odds Analysis

Few series and matchups in the Stanley Cup Playoffs will produce as much or as fluid of live betting that the Blues and Sharks showdown. To casual gamblers money will flow towards the Blues based on the cliché of home ice advantage. Sharps will consider a San Jose team that will get a more favorable price on the road. Others too will consider a Blues team that will fight at all costs to avoid going down 3-1 in this series. All told live betting should be a bargain hunter’s delight with plenty of action, ebb, and flow.

Current Form

San Jose leads this best of seven series 2-1. Following Friday’s game four the fifth game will return to the Shark Tank on Sunday. If necessary, the Blues would host a game six on Tuesday at the Enterprise Center. If there is the need for a decisive seventh game it would be Thursday back at San Jose. The Sharks took game one by a score of 6-3 at the Shark Tank before the Blues rallied to win the second game 4-2. Should San Jose win game four they will have the chance to clinch this series Sunday at the Shark Tank. The Blues will fight at all costs to avoid such a dangerous scenario.

Matchup Metrics

San Jose has gotten the money in only three out of seven road playoff games so far with just two of their last six on enemy ice going over the total. By contrast the Blues have not had the proverbial home ice advantage at Enterprise Center so far in the playoffs. St. Louis has come away with the cash in only three out of eight home games in this spring’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. Only two of their last seven home post season games have gone over the total.

Goaltending Report

San Jose netminder Martin Jones has a playoff save percentage of .903 and a 2.89 goals against average. While those are not great numbers he has been at his best when it has mattered the most.

Jordan Binnington of the Blues literally carried his team into the playoffs with a regular season save percentage of .927, 1.89 goals against average and five shutouts. Post season play has proven to be much more challenging for Binnington. His playoff save percentage is .904 with a 2.67 goals against average.
