The Masters Golf Props

When it comes to wagering on golf, sportsbooks pull out all the stops for the major championships. And the Masters is the biggest of them all with a Super Bowl-like prop bet menu. Making things even more special is the return of Tiger Woods to competitive play after nearly 17 months. It seems only fitting that Woods returns to Augusta National 25 years after the first of his five Masters titles. And that only has oddsmakers salivating even more since Woods brings in a massive handle when he’s competing forcing shops to have their own Tiger prop menu.

The betting markets run deep this week with over 90 of the world’s best golfers ready to attack the lengthy and iconic Augusta National Golf Club. There are, of course, the standard pick-the-winner and round-by-round matchup bets, but the majors unleash a host of additional wagering opportunities. If you’re looking for some side action, BookMaker is the right place. Let’s take a look at some of the prop bet options and find out where you can make additional coin while wagering on the 2022 Masters.

The Masters Prop Bets

As mentioned Woods has his own section of prop bets. You can wager on whether or not he makes the cut, the over/under on his first round and tournament score and where he will finish in the Masters. He’s around 70/1 in the outright market, and that might be much to expect from a guy who hasn’t played a competitive round since the Masters in November of 2020. You can always check out the prop market for better value on the Big Cat.

You have to believe that since Tiger is playing he feels well enough to contend. The ultimate competitor isn’t going to do a ceremonial lap around Augusta, he’s going to try and win the thing. That’s a tall order against the world’s best players, and if fatigue sets in it will happen later in the week. So, backing early round props is the way to go. According to witnesses, Tiger looked good in his practice round so why not back him to place among the top-20 after 18 holes?

Tiger Woods Top-20 After Round 1

No -800

Yes +500

Winning Score at 2022 Masters

Over 277.5 -130

Under 277.5 +100

This is a popular prop since it has nothing to do with a particular golfer and keeps bettors engaged throughout the entire tournament. Oddsmakers determine a winning score and the public can wager on whether the winner goes over or under that predicted number. We probably won’t see another record-setting performance like we had in November 2020 when Dustin Johnson set a 72-hole record with a 20-under 268. However, there is a reason the winning score is what it is. Over the previous 10 Masters the winner has been above 277 six times. Also keep in mind that Augusta National is a beast with an additional 35 yards added to the total distance. And on a good day the pros have a hard time. Hideki Matsuyama won the most recent edition carding a 278 total and I’m inclined to go with the OVER on this one.

Will there be a Hole-in-One

Yes -175

No +145

For the weekend golfer scoring an ace is legendary. If a couple of good shots during a round brings you back to the course a few more times, notching a hole-in-one is a year-long pass. We’ve seen 33 holes-in-one at Augusta, at least during the history of the Masters, with Tommy Fleetwood and Corey Connors pulling an ace out of their bag last year. That came a few months after a streak of four straight tournaments with an ace ended in November 2020. You can wager on whether or not there will be an ace, drop a few bucks on a specific player or make a bet on the hole most likely to yield a hole-in-one. If it’s going to happen it’ll likely take place on the 16th, which has yielded 23 holes-in-one, including Fleetwood’s last year. You can bet the 16th at +105 for an ace. Jeff Sluman in 1992 is the only player to hole out at No. 4, which is why the odds are long +1600 for that hole to give up an ace. With more than half of the tournament aces coming since 2003 the odds favor it happening again.
