Fortinet Championship Golf Odds - Bet on PGA Tour

Fortinet Championship Golf Odds

It’s back to work for the PGA Tour with a full field headed to California wine country for the initial FedExCup Fall opening Fortinet Championship contested at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa. A new wrinkle in the schedule puts the fall events – from the Fortinet to the RSM Classic – in a separate category as an extension to the just completed regular season. Players receive the same tournament benefits with the top 125 in the standings retaining their Tour card for 2024. Winning the same tournament three years in a row is about as rare as an albatross. Two-time defending champ Max Homa looks to become the first three-peater since 2011 as the betting favorite. Second favorite Justin Thomas missed the playoffs finishing one spot out of contention. He’s making his first trip to this event since a fourth-place showing in 2019. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete updated list of betting odds when you’re ready to make a wager.

Odds Analysis

Max Homa +750

Though he’s the betting favorite, the odds are not in Homa’s favor as he goes for a three-peat. A look back at his prior wins show some incredible luck involved with Danny Willett three-putting the final hole last year and Maverick McNealy carding a double on the 71st hole in 2021. Being around to take advantage of others misfortune tells something about Homa. He’s reached elite status among Tour players and looks to sharpen his game ahead of the Ryder Cup. And there’s no denying his affinity for Silverado.

Taylor Montgomery +4500

Montgomery came out blazing at the start of last season continuing a hot run in the Korn Ferry Tour. He closed last year’s tournament with a low-round tying 64 to finish solo third, three swings back of Homa. It was one of five top 15s to start the season, and although Monty cooled off into the spring and summer, he continued to solidly strike the ball with a solid approach game. Silverado is a fit for his game and I have no problem backing Montgomery for the outright.

Sahith Theegala +1800

Another returning player with a solid resume looking for his first PGA title, Theegala is a little further back on the odds board, which is good news for bettors. Theegala finished T6 in Napa last year, the first of his seven top 10s in 28 starts. He also won the unofficial QBE Shootout in December. Following a stretch of three straight MCs near the end of the season, the former Pepperdine Wave rebounded with top 15s at the FedEx St. Jude and BMW Championship with his season ending before the TOUR Championship.

Justin Thomas +1600

A captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup team, Thomas looks for a strong start to the fall season after coming up just short in his attempt to reach the FedExCup playoffs. JT finished 71st in the final standings missing the cut by one spot, though he ended his season with the fourth-best finish with a share of 12th at the Wyndham Championship. Thomas hasn’t played this event since 2019, but he’s been good when he does going T4-T8-T3 in his last three starts at Silverado.

Dylan Wu +6500

Inconsistent play has plagued Wu throughout his career, but there’s no denying the fact that he can be a dangerous player. He also has a chip on his shoulder after a MC at Sliverado last year. He did respond with some of his best finishes taking place in tournaments with similar fields. One of his two top 10s took place at the Honda Classic and he had his best outing near the end of the season earning a top 5 at the 3M Open in July.

Course: Silverado Resort and Spa – 7,123 yards, Par 72

The North Course at Silverado has hosted since the tournament moved to Napa in 2015. The layout isn’t particularly long at less than 7,200 yards, and it isn’t difficult. There is no style that fits Silverado better than others. Some players will try and hit the snot out of the ball to gain an advantage on approach. Others will club down to navigate around the tree-lined fairways and stay out of the rough. Getting off line from the tee box isn’t a major problem with the rough not very penal. Returning players will see a different set up, though, with a number of holes re-routed. There were not structural changes to the course, though. Winning scores here ranged between 14- and 21-under proving that solid play in every area can carry you to the weekend. We can expect to see some low rounds and low scores with the weather cooperating.
