World No. 2 Justin Thomas is making the trip to France for this week’s HNA Open de France. Thomas is listed as the top betting choice at odds of +1015, while World No. 5 Jon Ram is a close second at odds of +1050. Odds Analysis

Justin Thomas +1015

I know that Thomas is ranked No. 2 in the world, but he almost never plays abroad and his results haven’t been good with a tie for 53 and two missed cuts. The other bigger problem with Thomas is that he isn’t playing at a high level right now with just one top ten in his last seven starts. He could be a go-against this week and I don’t think I have ever said about Thomas.

Jon Rahm +1050

Rahm was an official bust in the U.S. Open but he has normally been very good in Europe. He won the Open de Espana in April and he finished in the top 10 in this event a year ago.

Tommy Fleetwood +1250

I was really disappointed in Fleetwood last week, but perhaps a letdown was in order. Fleetwood is the defending champion of this event, but I am a little concerned he could be fatigued. He is young enough that perhaps he won’t be worn down, but this is a good field and it won’t be easy this week.
Alex Noren +1250
I think Noren can contend for the win this week. He will be making his 10th start at Le Golf National and he had a tie for 8th two years ago and a tie for 10th last year. He is playing well this season and could be right in the mix for the win on Sunday.

Rafael Cabrera Bello +1650

I think you have to give Cabrera Bello a decent shot this week, as he has top five finishes in his last two trips to Le Golf National. He wasn’t that great in the U.S. Open, but he has played well overall this season including a tie for 8th at Wentworth and a top four in Italy.

Ian Poulter +2050

I can’t leave out Poulter who has three top four finishes on this course. He is only 24th on the Ryder Cup points list, so he would like to move up and make sure he is certain for a captain’s pick. He also has six straight top 25 finishes overall.

Matthew Fitzpatrick +2250

I like Fitzpatrick at this price this week. He played well at the U.S. Open and that type of course should prepare him well for Le Golf National. I know he has struggled recently on this course, but I like his chances to contend this week.

Sergio Garcia +2250

I just can’t back Sergio based on his current form. He was a little better last week, but still not a win. He had five missed cuts and a tie for 70th before last week. I need to see more before I can back Sergio.

Andy Sullivan +2250

You have to put Sullivan in the mix, as he has four top ten finishes in his last five starts. He has also done well on this course with two top ten finishes in the last four years.

HaoTong Li +5050

My longshot this week is Li who played well at the U.S. Open where he was first in GIR. He won the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this season and he tied for 7th in this event a year ago.

Course: The Albatros Course at Le Golf National is located just about 20 miles from Paris and is a stadium course that is a par 71 that measures 7,247 yards. It features bunkers commonly seen on links courses, undulating fairways and fast greens. The course will host the Ryder Cup in less than two months. The finishing stretch of holes, 15, 16 and 18 all have water hazards.
