GolfSixes Matchup Odds and Picks

2018-GolfSixes-Matchups-preview-Betting-Odds

This week’s European Tour event is just a two-day event, as action takes place on Saturday and Sunday. It is also a team event and includes a few teams that have women players. The team of Pablo Larrazabal & Adrian Otaegui is the current betting favorite at odds of +550, while the team of Thorbjorn Olesen and Lucas Bjerregaard is the second betting choice at odds of +575. We are coming off a tough week with last week’s picks at the Volvo China Open, so we’ll look for a nice bounce back. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s GolfSixes.

GolfSixes Matchup Picks

Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. This event only uses six holes and two of those holes are Par 5’s, so big hitters do have an advantage. The format on Saturday in the group stage is teams going head-to-head in a round robin with the top two teams in each group advancing. The teams play a greensomes format with both players teeing off and then the best ball is selected going forward and players alternating shots.

Teams to Bet On

Kiradech Aphibarnrat & Thongchai Jaidee

I think there is some value on this team, as Aphibarnrat is long off the tee and should set the team up in good position on a regular basis. Jaidee has held his own in team play in his career, going 8-8-2. I think this team will advance out of Group A and be a threat to win the event.

Sam Brazel & Wade Ormsby

I think this team can advance out of Group B. Both players have thrived in this format in the past and I think they will go under the radar this weekend. They could have some definite value in their matchup against Larrazabal and Otaegui in group play and it would not be a surprise if Brazel and Ormsby contended for the overall tournament title.

Eddie Pepperell and Matt Wallace

I give the home favorites a decent chance to do well in this event and they could be undervalued in golf betting odds. Pepperell is playing well this season and Wallace has a win and a third place finish in his last four starts. I know they don’t have any experience in this format, but I think they will be buoyed by the home crowd and advance out of Group D.

Teams to Go Against

Daniel Im & David Lipsky

I don’t like the U.S. team of Daniel Im and David Lipsky at all. Neither player has done anything this year and neither has much experience in this format. Lipsky hasn’t even finished in the top 40 in any of his last five starts and Im has missed his last four cuts. I think this team is a clear go-against.

Thomas Bjorn & Catriona Matthew

It is hard to see this team getting out of Group B, as neither player has done much of late. Bjorn has been awful in his career in match play, going 13-26-2 in singles and he is not much better in pairs at 12-8-5. Matthew has been okay in match play but she hasn’t had a top ten finish in almost two years. I think this team is a go-against in this tournament.

Scott Jamieson and Richie Ramsay

It is hard to have much confidence in this team, as Jamieson has missed the cut in three of his last four events, while Ramsay has just a tie for 72nd and a tie for 32nd in his last two tournaments. Jamieson is replacing Marc Warren on this team and that is bad news for Scotland. This team is a go-against on Saturday in group play.
