European Tour Picks - Odds To Win Turkish Airlines Open

With the Race to Dubai heating up, the European Tour makes a stop in Antalya for the Turkish Airlines Open, hosted for the third straight year at the Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort. With the tour bouncing all over Europe a number stars tend to pick and choose their events, but there will be a strong field at the fifth annual tournament, headlined by defending champion Justin Rose, who opened as the betting favorite at BookMaker.eu at +425.

With only three tournaments left in the Race to Dubai, last year’s points leader Tommy Fleetwood has a chance to defend his crown. A win would certainly help his chances and Fleetwood is the second favorite at +705. The odds fall considerably after those two with 2016 champion Thorbjorn Olesen the third favorite at +1250. First-round play tees off on Thursday, November 1.

Odds Analysis

Justin Rose +425

His recent form has been outstanding even if the wins haven’t followed. It seems like only a matter of time until that happens again. His last tour victory was here last year when he carded an 18-under and he took third at the WGC-HSBC Champions last week. He has placed among the top 20 in seven of his 10 starts this season, including five top-10s with a runner-up finish at the 147th Open Championship in July.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat +2676

A regular participant at this event, the Thai has a strong track record in Turkey and is coming off a solid top-5 finish in China last week. He took third in 2016 when this event was held at Maxx Royal and placed 25th and sixth in each of the last two years here. He had a nice run earlier this year and a return to form could be in store based on last week’s result. And the price is right to take a chance on Aphibarnrat.

Lucas Herbert +4050

Making his tournament and course debut, Herbert had a sizzling end to the regular season leaving him in fine form for this event. He led the Portugal Masters after 54 holes before settling for a runner-up finish. He followed that with a T7 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and a T3 at the British Masters. We’re not sure how he fares on this course, but the young Aussie is certainly one to keep an eye on and he’ll bring a good payout with a victory.

Tommy Fleetwood +705

Needing a win, or at least several high finishes, to make up ground on the Race to Dubai points leader and Ryder Cup teammate Francesco Molinari could be the motivation Fleetwood needs. His recent form has been solid with T11 or better in his last five starts, including a runner-up finish at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Course: Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort - 7,159-yards, Par-71

Set up more for the casual golfer who makes a weekend trip with his buddies, the course plays easily for the pros. There is nothing complicated about the layout and the course should yield plenty of birdies and low scores in conditions that are expected to be favorable over the four days. There are few hazards and the wide fairways are forgiving on even the worst tee shots. Being good in every facet of the game is much better than being great in one.
