European Tour Picks – D+D Real Czech Masters Matchup Odds and Picks

The Albatross Golf Resort in Prague is the sight for this week’s D+D Real Czech Masters as the European Tour resumes play following a few weeks off. For a majority of the field this will be their first competition in a few weeks and that will allow for some movement on the leaderboard and in the matchups. Eddie Pepperell opened as the betting favorite at top online sportsbooks, but his odds suggest the tournament is up for grabs. This will be the sixth edition of the event and all five previous winners are scheduled to compete. Matchup odds for the D+D Real Czech Masters are listed below.

Need to Know

For a good number of players this will be their first action in several weeks as the Euro Tour was on hiatus, so don’t give up if your matchup pick falls behind in the early rounds. Albatross Golf Resort is hosting for the sixth consecutive year and plays at a lengthy 7,467 yards at par 72. The track had a number of tweaks over the last few years with water added on the first, 10th and 12th holes. Another water hazard follows the left side of the fairway to the green on the 18th, which could make for some anxious moments. There is a standard number of par 5s that have been navigated superbly by past winners. Defending champ Andrea Pavan was 11-under on those holes on his way to a tournament record -22 last year.

D+D Real Czech Masters Matchup Picks

Lee Slattery +123 vs. Julian Suri

The payout for Slattery was too good to pass up, especially considering his form at Albatross. It’s not an easy track, but Slattery placed among the top-5 the last two years. Inconsistency has been an issue on this course and overall. One bad round in each of the last two playings proved costly and he had a stretch of six straight MCs earlier this year. He is coming off his two best showings and that will only help his confidence this week. Suri has been silent the last few months and there’s nothing to suggest a breakthrough.

Gavin Green -109 vs. Robert MacIntyre

They’re not the biggest names on the Euro Tour, but his matchup pits two youngsters who are on a roll. Picking the winner in the head-to-head isn’t going to be easy. Both have played well lately with MacIntyre coming off a T6 at The Open, which came after a pair of runner-up showings. In his tournament debut last year, Green opened with a 64 at Albatross before finishing solo third. He has a trio of top-10s over the last few months and his length off the tee will be the deciding factor in this matchup.

Thomas Pieters -116 vs. Andrea Pavan

Another matchup between players high up odd list should be intriguing. And they have both used Albatross as their own little playground. Pavan carded a tournament record -22 last year for his first Euro Tour win and he’s since added the BMW International title. Pieters has been shaky of late but he’s torn up this layout with a win in 2015, runner-up in 2016 and a T9 last year. He hasn’t placed among the top-10 since March, but Pieters is raring to go with the chance to make up for some lost time.

Eddie Pepperell -114 vs. Bernd Wiesberger

The top two on the opening odds board are likely to fight it out all weekend. Wiesberger has been on fire on the Euro Tour with a pair of recent victories and an additional top-10 in his last five starts. His putting scares me and if this turns into a low-scoring affair it will be his downfall. Pepperell has felt right at home at Albatross with top-5s in 2014 and 2017. He finished T9 last year and has a T22 from 2015 on his resume. His familiarity with and success on this track should lift him past Wiesberger in this matchup.
