D+D Real Czech Masters Matchup Odds and Picks

D+D Real Czech Masters Preview

Thomas Pieters is a solid favorite to win this week’s D+D Real Czech Masters on the European Tour. None of the world’s top players are in the field this week, so Pieters gets top billing. The field is so weak that players like Eddie Pepperell and Danny Willett are among the betting favorites. I am coming off a 3-2 week with the matchups at the Nordea Masters. Let’s look at the odds and matchups for this week’s D+D Real Czech Masters that begins on Thursday.

D+D Real Czech Masters Matchup Picks

Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. The Albatross course is long, but distance off the tee has not been a prerequisite for winning this event in the past. The course does have a lot of hazards so staying out of trouble is important. Greens in regulation is the key stat to look at this week, as last year’s winner Haydn Porteous ranked second in GIR in this tournament, while the 2016 winner, Paul Peterson ranked first in GIR.

Thomas Pieters -150 vs. Eddie Pepperell

Pieters is finishing the season strong and he could make his way onto the European Ryder Cup team. He tied for 6th at the PGA last time out. Pepperell has finished in the top five twice in this event, but I think Pieters is the better play and we get him at a reasonable price in this matchup.

Haydn Porteous -190 vs. Scott Hend

The defending champion is in good form, as he is coming off a tie for 6th last week. Last year he won this event coming off a tie for 6th. Hend is long off the tee but he usually gets into trouble and I don’t know that he can win hitting it all over the place on this course. I know the price is high, but I will take Porteous in this matchup.

Andrew Johnston -115 vs. Soren Kjeldsen

Beef came back from a layoff and played well last week in the Nordea Masters. I expect him to do well on a course like this one that fits his style. We get him at a short price against Kjeldsen in this matchup.

P Waring -117 vs. Matthias Schwab

Waring is coming off a win in the Nordea Masters and he did it by hitting a lot of greens. That is the recipe for success on this course. I will lay the small number and take him in this matchup against Schwab.

Paul Peterson -119 vs. Oliver Fisher

Peterson has played well on this course in the past and we get him at a reasonable price against Fisher. Peterson led the field in GIR two years ago when he won this tournament. I will lay the price and take Peterson in this matchup.
