Ravens at Browns MNF Week 14 Betting

The Baltimore Ravens take on the Cleveland Browns on Monday night in a game that can be seen on ESPN. The Ravens finally looked like a good team last week as they took apart the Dallas Cowboys, while the Browns are coming off an impressive win over Tennessee. This is a revenge game for Cleveland, as they were beaten by the Ravens earlier this season. Let’s look at the Monday night matchup and NFL picks.

Odds Analysis

The Ravens opened as high as a 2.5-point favorite and the money has been coming in on Cleveland, as Baltimore is now just a 1-point choice. The total has moved up, as it opened at 45.5 and it is now 47.

Injury Report

The one injury of note to the Ravens is to cornerback Jimmy Smith. He is listed as questionable for this contest. It should be noted that Baltimore is nearly full strength as they activated linebacker Matthew Judon and tight end Mark Andrews from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The Browns don’t have any new injuries of note.

Key Matchup

If the Browns are going to win this game then they need Baker Mayfield to play well. He is coming off the best game of his career, but he faced almost no pressure from the Tennessee defense. The Ravens have a much better defense and they blitz a lot. Mayfield has struggled against the blitz in his career. He has a 90.2 quarterback rating when throwing from a clean pocket but when under pressure his rating is 32.1. Expect the Ravens to blitz Mayfield early and often and force him into mistakes.

Game Trends

The Ravens are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 meetings in Cleveland. The Ravens are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games in December. The Ravens are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. the AFC North. The Browns are 9-23-1 ATS in their last 33 vs. the AFC North. The Browns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday games. The Under is 6-2 in the Ravens last 8 road games. The Under is 19-7 in the Browns last 26 games as a home underdog. The Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in this series.

Free ATS Pick

Count me as one of the skeptics of Mayfield and the Browns. I am still not sold that the Browns are one of the top teams in the NFL and I don’t think Mayfield is a top quarterback. I know he was great against the Tennessee defense last week, but a quarterback off the street could have success against the rotten Titans defense. Baltimore’s defense is not as good as they once were, but they are still a decent defense and they will force Mayfield into mistakes. If Lamar Jackson can avoid making mistakes then I think the Ravens will win this game. Keep in mind that the Ravens were thought of one as the best teams in the NFL earlier this season and now Baltimore is starting to get healthy. The return of Andrews will be huge for Jackson and I expect him to have a big game against the Browns. I will take Baltimore to win on Monday night.

NFL Pick: Ravens 24, Browns 16
