NFL Week 9 Ugly Dog Picks - NFL Betting Odds

NFL Week 9 Ugly Dog Picks

Are you ready for another week of ugly dog picks in the NFL? It had to happen, as we are coming off our first bad week, as we went 1-4 ATS. We still have a winning record for the season at 19-15-1 ATS. Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. We have four games to look at for this week.

Let’s look at the NFL Week 9 Ugly Dog picks.

Week 9 Ugly Dog Picks

Let me point out one fact that you are probably already aware of. When you bet these games, you are usually better off waiting until Sunday morning to make your wagers because you will probably get a better number than what I list from earlier in the week.

Houston Texans +13.5 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The best team in the NFL against the worst team in the NFL. It is no surprise that the Eagles are big favorites on Thursday night. The Texans at least looked competitive early in the season but right now they look completely lost. Not many people expect them to have any chance on Thursday but history has shown that these Thursday night games can be unpredictable. It is still hard to see the Eagles losing, but maybe they come into this game with a little less focus. We know the public will be all over the Eagles so that does help a little in terms of line value. We take the Texans as an ugly dog.

Carolina Panthers +7 at Cincinnati Bengals

The Panthers had every chance to win last week against Atlanta and take over first place in a weak NFC South, but Carolina couldn’t make a kick. It is hard to see how the Panthers will bounce back from last week’s heart-breaker, but they do get to play a Cincinnati team that looked awful on Monday night against Cleveland. The Bengals had all kinds of trouble on offense without leading receiver Ja’Marr Chase and the defense couldn’t do much of anything. This should be a game that the Bengals win, but many people thought that last week. The Panthers are still in the ugly dog category, so we take the Panthers plus the points.

Chicago Bears +5 vs. Miami Dolphins

The Bears have already traded away two of their top defensive players in Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn. The defense hasn’t been the biggest problems for the Bears this season, as the offense usually gets the blame for Chicago’s poor play. With the recent trades, it is hard to see how Chicago is going to be competitive on a weekly basis. They now have to face a Miami team that looks strong on both sides of the ball. The line on this game seems low considering how poorly the Bears have played for much of this season. The Bears are definitely an ugly dog, so we take the points with Chicago.

Detroit Lions +3.5 vs. Green Bay Packers

The Lions continually find ways to lose games and it is going to be another season for Detroit in which they miss the playoffs. As bad as the Lions have played, the Packers haven’t been much better. The Packers could easily end up in the ugly dog category if they don’t start playing better. You can make a case that they shouldn’t even be favored on the road in this game considering how poorly the offense has done this season. The Lions are still the uglier team and they are getting points, so we take the Lions as an ugly dog.
