NFL ATS Picks - Seattle Seahawks at Tennessee Titans Game Preview

Seahawks-at-Titans-(FOX)

Seattle lost to the Packers in its opener and then struggled badly last week before finally pulling out an ugly 12-9 win over the 49ers. The Titans, meanwhile, look like the best team in the AFC South and a serious contender for a playoff spot based on their start. Tennessee lost its opener to the Raiders but bounced back with a convincing win last time out over the Jaguars.

This should be an interesting showdown between an established power and a team on the rise. The Seahawks aren’t used to being underdogs and the offense must find a rhythm in order to pull the upset.

Odds Analysis

Even though the Seahawks have the talent to win this game, more than 70 percent of the early action is on the Titans to cover the spread. Tennessee has the advantage of the home field advantage and this would be a turning-point type win by knocking off such a staunch foe.

The scoring total isn’t very high but actually seems like too much based on the offensive ineptitude and defensive power of the Seahawks. Seattle will need to change in order for the “over” to hit, and not surprisingly the “under” is currently getting more than 95 percent of the action.

Injury Report

DeMarco Murray -- The Titans’ standout running back suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2 against the Jaguars. He didn’t play in the second half and is questionable to play in this one. If he can’t go, the Titans have a solid backup in Derrick Henry who is quite capable of carrying the load.

Corey Davis -- The Titans’ first-round pick is dealing with a hamstring issue of his own. He could be a key cog down the line but given that he’s inexperienced and injured, it’s not smart to count on him in this one. Davis is a big target in the red zone, and maybe he has a limited role if he’s healthy enough to play.

Jimmy Graham -- The Seahawks tight end has been a complete non-factor this season through two games. Graham suffered an ankle injury last week against the 49ers and his status is uncertain. If Graham can’t play, it takes away one of the few weapons on the struggling Seattle offense.

Key Stat

One. That’s the number of touchdowns the Seahawks have accumulated in two games this season. They are averaging only 10.5 points per game as their offense has been abysmal. The line has not done a good job of protecting quarterback Russell Wilson and the team cannot find a rhythm.

The one trip to the end zone was badly needed. Seattle was a heavy favorite against the 49ers in Week 2 but found itself trailing by three points in the fourth quarter. Wilson changed that by finding Paul Richardson for a nine-yard score to help his team escape with the win.

Free ATS Pick

The Seahawks have not looked good to start the year, but they have a great pedigree. Seattle should be much sharper in this one. The Titans are an interesting team as they have a lot of solid players on both sides of the ball and the home field advantage.

This one should be a close, grind-it-out affair, but the choice is for the Seahawks to find enough offense to capture this victory. The “under” is the choice as the Tennessee offense could get shut down.

NFL Odds: Seahawks 20, Titans 17
