NFL ATS Picks - Cleveland Browns at Indianapolis Colts Game Preview

Browns-at-Colts-(CBS)

The Colts blew a 10-point fourth quarter lead to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 and eventually lost in overtime. Quarterback Andrew Luck is still sidelined with a shoulder injury and the Colts have been hit hard by other injuries, which is why they are slight underdogs despite playing at home.

This is an interesting spread and one that is showing faith in a Cleveland team that has almost never won on the road in past years.

Watch this regular season Week 3 matchup live on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at 1 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Odds Analysis

The bettors are not on the same page as the oddsmakers in this one. The Colts are getting a ton of action on the spread, more than 75 percent at last check, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the line moves to a pick ‘em or pushes the Colts to a small favorite.

The scoring total is low as neither offense inspires much confidence. The “under” is still the more common choice, with 60 percent of the early action taking that side of the total.

Injury Report

Corey Coleman – The Browns wide receiver broke his right hand last weekend in Cleveland’s loss to Baltimore and will miss several weeks after undergoing surgery on Monday. Coleman collided with Ravens rookie cornerback Marlon Humphrey late in Sunday’s game and broke landed on his hand. The second-year player also missed six games last year with a broken hand, and his absence leaves a void. The Browns don’t have a ton of wideout talent behind him.

Andrew Luck – Luck has already been ruled out for the game, and the Colts are dangerously close to already losing control of their season. Jacoby Brissett is expected to play in his place. Brissett managed the game decently against the Cardinals last time out, looking much better than Scott Tolzien did in Week 1.

Vontae Davis – The Browns are missing their top wide receiver, but it’s a draw as the Colts will likely be without their best cornerback. The Colts’ defense did hold up well last week against the Cardinals and hope to weather the storm of not having Davis.

Player To Watch

DeShone Kizer -- If the Browns indeed win this game, they will likely get a solid effort out of their rookie quarterback. Kizer struggled mightily last time out against the Ravens, throwing for 182 yards with three interceptions while completing less than 50 percent of his passes.

Kizer said he was bothered by a migraine during the game, and another outing like that will give the Cleveland fanbase a headache. It’s not easy playing on the road, but if Kizer can handle the hostile environment, the win is possible.

Free ATS Pick

The Colts are certainly undermanned, but this is the Browns we are talking about. If this game was in Cleveland it would have made sense to name the Browns the favorite, but not on the road. The Colts are one of the worst teams in the league when Luck isn’t under center, but they still have enough talent to get this win.

Indianapolis will be desperate and should scratch out a close victory. The “under” is the call on the scoring total as this one could be ugly.

NFL Odds: Colts 21, Browns 18
