New York Giants Season Win Total Betting

It’s been a bleak decade for the New York Giants. Big Blue beat New England in the Super Bowl ten years ago, but the Giants have only been to the playoffs once this that improbable win. The Giants have won six or less games for each of the last five seasons, and they are likely to finish under .500 once again in 2022. However, there is hope on the horizon. The Giants finally parted ways with former general manager Dave Gettleman, and they put together a well-respected draft for the first time in several years. This franchise might finally be turning a corner, but it’s clear that the Giants need a signal caller.

New York Giants Offense

Daniel Jones is not the answer at quarterback. We have now seen Jones for three seasons, and he has failed to improve after a promising rookie season where he threw for over 3,000 yards with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Jones has thrown 21 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 25 games over the last two seasons, so it’s clear that the Giants will be moving on after this season. The team declined to pick up Jones’ fifth-year option in April, and the Giants brought in veteran Tyrod Taylor this offseason too.

New York is hoping that Saquon Barkley can stay healthy after an injury plagued past two seasons. Barkley suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2 of the 2020 season, and he was bothered by nagging injuries throughout the 2021 campaign. The Giants used the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on Barkley, and that pick has been widely used as the most recent example of why you don’t take a running back early in the draft.

The front office has done its best to give Jones solid weapons on the outside. The Giants signed Kenny Golladay to a big contract last offseason, and they also drafted Kadarius Toney in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and Wan’Dale Robinson in the second round of this year’s draft. Toney has the potential to be a game changer with his speed, but he has frustrated the team with some of his behavior.

The Giants have invested heavily in the offensive line too. They used the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on left tackle Andrew Thomas, and they drafted Evan Neal out of Alabama with the No. 7 overall pick in April. Jones was only sacked 22 times last year, and he figures to be one of the least sacked quarterbacks in the league.

New York Giants Defense

Big Blue has taken a page from the Washington Commanders by using a lot of resources to improve the defensive line. The Giants now have three first-round picks along the defensive line after taking hybrid edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux with the No. 5 pick in this year’s draft. Thibodeaux is listed as a linebacker on the depth chart, but he will spend a lot of time lining up on the edge to pressure the QB.

This front four needs to be able to get to the quarterback as the back seven is not good. This is one of the worst secondaries in the NFL, and the linebacking corps is decent at best. Blake Martinez is perennially overrated, but at least Azeez Ojulari found a role as a specialized pass rusher.

Prediction

It’s going to take a few more years for the Giants to start thinking about being competitive in the NFC East again. This team just has too many holes to be a threat in this division, and they are likely to win six games or less for the sixth straight season.
