Week 8 College Football Odds Parlay Picks Update

Week Eight has a multitude of potentially live home dogs that are more than capable. In fact, this looks like one of the more dangerous weeks to get involved with laying points anywhere, especially on the road. Last week was a clear indication of the dangers of getting involved with overlays. While the betting public will always be chalky the smart money is likely to grab some points with home teams going up against opponents that not only could be laying too many points but, in some cases, should not even be favored. Let’s take a look at our Week Eight Home Dog Parlay.

Purdue +13.5 vs. Ohio State

After losing their first three games, all of which they could have won, the Purdue Boilermakers have enjoyed a strong recovery with three consecutive straight up wins and four straight covers. Purdue boasts the nation’s tenth ranked offense and should be able to move the ball on the Ohio State Buckeyes 58th ranked defense. Ohio State has covered just three out of seven games this season.

Michigan State +7.5 vs. Michigan

The Michigan State Spartans were written off for dead after their home loss to Northwestern but responded well with the 21-17 win in the final seconds at Penn State which again validated their mental toughness and resiliency as a program. Now the Spartans are getting a touchdown plus against their hated “Big Brother.” The Michigan Wolverines no doubt impressed all with their slaughter of Wisconsin last Saturday but this will be a much tougher task. Sparty totally rules the cashier’s cage in this series with 10 consecutive payouts. “Little Brother” brings the hatred and chip on their shoulder to cover the big number yet again.

Indiana +14 vs. Penn State

The Indiana Hoosiers have shown better than expected so far with a record of 4-3 and will be facing a Penn State Nittany Lions team coming off back to back home losses to Ohio State and Michigan State in games in which the Nits snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Penn State has proven to be something of a one-dimensional team with quarterback Trace McSorley. PSU also has a leaky defense that ranks 53rd in the country while not being able to protect leads. Penn State coach James Franklin has developed the reputation of being a great recruiter that is a poor game day coach.

UCLA +1 vs. Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats are coming off a 42-10 debacle at Utah last week and are now 3-4 both straight up and against the spread. New Arizona head coach Kevin Sumlin has done what was considered impossible; he has found a way to shut down quarterback Khalil Tate. Tate thrived under Rich Rodriguez last year but has fallen apart with Sumlin’s new offense. Meanwhile UCLA is coming off their first win for head coach Chip Kelly last week as they killed Cal 37-7 as 6.5-point dogs. The Bruins should be able to move the ball on Arizona’s 103rd in the nation ranked defense. Not only has Sumlin not adapted to the roster that he inherited but it stands to figure that Kelly would eventually get the UCLA offense moving.

Ole Miss +3.5 vs. Auburn

The Ole Miss Rebels are a threat to always come through the back door based on the fact that they boast the nation’s fifth ranked offense. While Ole Miss was not picked to do much this year the Rebels are 5-2 and playing hard for head coach Matt Luke. Most important of all is the fact that the Auburn Tigers are a mess with two straight losses and an overall mark of 1-5 against the spread in their last six games. The wheels have completely come off Auburn’s 93rd in the country ranked offense. Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn was celebrated as an offensive genius that was going to reinvent the sport five years ago. But no more!
