Week 6 College Football Odds – National Championship Odds Update

Week 6 College Football Odds

Week six has seen the Alabama Crimson Tide continue to grow in esteem with gamblers betting on the college football national championship for 2018. The Tide was even money last week but has been pounded all the way to 4/7 for week six. Sure, Alabama has looked unbeatable but they have yet to play a serious opponent. Eventually the Tide is going to be tested. And one of the most dangerous items on any wagering board is a foregone conclusion. As of now the Crimson Tide may indeed be the best team. It is not at all certain that they are also the best value. With that in mind we’ll analyze Alabama and some other choices that may bring more for the dollar.

Week six offers the best lineup of games thus far in the 2018 season. College football playoff implications will be on the line all day on Saturday. Be sure to be ready for live and halftime betting at Bookmaker as action will be nonstop from morning to past midnight!

Odds to Win the National Championship: Alabama 4/7, 9/2, Clemson 6/1, Georgia 15/2, Notre Dame 10/1, Oklahoma 18/1, Washington 25/1, Michigan 28/1, LSU 33/1, West Virginia 33/1, Penn State 40/1, Wisconsin 40/1, Auburn 50/1

Alabama Crimson Tide

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has given the Crimson Tide an element never before seen in program history. The Heisman Trophy candidate is only a sophomore and first year starter but you’d never know it when watching. Alabama could have named the score in multiple games this season but coach Nick Saban took his foot off the gas and emptied the bench. This is why the Tide is just 3-2 vs. the spread and a difficult team to evaluate against such a terrible schedule so far.

Clemson Tigers

Last week had to keep head coach Dabo Swinney’s stomach churning nonstop. It began when Swinney named true freshman Trevor Lawrence quarterback. After that dethroned starter Kelly Bryant quit the team. Adding to the drama was Lawrence leaving last Saturday’s game in the first half due to injury. Clemson trailed Syracuse 23-13 with 12:58 to play before a rally for the ages sparked them to a 27-23 win. Best of all the comeback was engineered by a quarterback nobody had ever heard of. Chase Brice did not have an artistic performance but was clutch in the fourth quarter. Lawrence is expected to start on Saturday but if he goes down again that may cost the Tigers a playoff shot.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Dwayne Haskins may be the best quarterback that Urban Meyer has had in his career, which is saying quite a bit as Meyer has had a host of great ones such as Alex Smith at Utah and Tim Tebow at Florida. Haskins was the coolest customer of all last week when the rallied the Bucks from a 26-14 fourth quarter deficit to a 27-26 win at Penn State. Ohio State overcame a terrible start and the hostile white out crowd of 100,000 plus to enhance their national championship credentials.

Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia is looking more and more like a potential overlay after sluggish wins at Missouri and then last week at home against Tennessee. In both games the opponents were clearly outmatched and yet Georgia did not show up fully engaged. Eventually the Bulldogs are going to pay a severe price if they play with such lethargic sloppiness against a quality opponent.

Oklahoma Sooners

Quarterback Kyler Murray threw for 432 yards and six touchdown passes in the Sooners 66-33 win over Baylor which was a classic illustration of OU’s explosive offensive potential. The problem is that the Sooners defense continues to fall short of championship caliber. But Oklahoma’s offense is so good that some gamblers believe they can just win shootouts.

Free ATS Pick

Alabama is simply too expensive at this time. Notre Dame is gaining momentum with new starting quarterback Ian Book and a stout defense. At 10/1 they bring a decent price with a very good shot at making the playoffs if the can get out of Virginia Tech alive on Saturday night. From there, the Irish schedule is quite favorable.
