Top Total Plays of Week 12

That’s it, I am done betting totals for UCF Knights games. For the third time this season, I was unable to hit the right side of the total in a UCF game and I am done backing them at this point. The Knights have seemingly flummoxed me at every turn, and it cost me what would have been an otherwise perfect week. I hit my other two plays relatively easily, nailing the over in the Texas Tech-Texas game and cashing in easily on the under in Michigan State-Ohio State. I am looking to go 3-0 this week.

Florida State vs. Boston College Under 48.5

If it wasn’t for injuries, this wouldn’t be a play for me at this number. Both Florida State and Boston College run a lot of tempo, so there will be a number of plays in this game. However, both of these offenses are going to have a very hard time moving the ball.

FSU has been unable to move the ball for much of the season. The Seminoles have one of the worst offensive lines in the country, and they have been hit hard by injuries and transfers up front. They have been forced to move guards out to tackle as that position has been particularly awful, and that has led to Deondre Francois getting crushed. He is clearly uncomfortable in the pocket at this point, and who could blame him considering how many hits he has taken.

There are some major worries for Boston College too. The Golden Eagles have relied on healthy doses of Anthony Brown and AJ Dillon this season, but both players are injured ahead of this game. Brown hurt his shoulder in the loss to Clemson last week and the offense looked dreadful without him, while Dillon has been battling small injuries throughout the year as the workhorse back.

Mississippi State vs. Arkansas Over 46.5

This feels like a breakout game for Nick Fitzgerald. It’s been a frustrating senior season for Fitzgerald. He was seen as a quarterback that could take off under Joe Moorhead’s tutelage, but instead his accuracy issues have resurfaced and that has hamstrung an offense that looked like it could be great this season. Fitzgerald has been playing better of late though, and now he will face an Arkansas defense that is probably the worst in the SEC. They have had some trouble with dual-threat quarterbacks, and that bodes well for the over.

Arkansas has not been as high-scoring as you might think in Chad Morris’ first season, but the offense has come along from where it was at the start of the season. Morris has largely settled on Ty Storey to run his up-tempo offense, and he has the ability to move the ball with his legs too. The pace of this offense will help push the game over.

Temple vs. South Florida Over 62.5

Only a few weeks ago, we were talking about South Florida as a team that could potentially play spoiler. They were one of the last undefeated teams in the country, yet the Bulls have completely gone off the rails over the last few weeks.

The Bulls have been able to move the score in most of their games, but the defense has been exposed over their last three games. They allowed 57 to Houston, 41 to Tulane, and 35 to Cincinnati, and the latter two offenses aren’t anything particularly special.

Temple’s offense has really taken off over the last couple weeks. The Owls lit up UCF for nearly 700 yards of offense, and they dropped 59 on Houston last week. Anthony Russo has looked sharp under center, and running back Ryquell Armstead has been putting up big numbers too. These two should be able to go over the total pretty easily, and this is going to be my favorite bet of the week.
