College Football Week 1 Parlay Picks

College Football Week 1 Parlay Picks

The first week of the college football season is finally upon us. We had a little taste of what’s to come over the next three months with Week 0 last Saturday, but this will be the first full week of action.

There will be games on five straight days starting on Thursday night, and there’s no better way to spend Labor Day Weekend than with college football.

CFB Week 1 Parlay Picks

Here are three parlays that will hopefully get your weekend started the right way.

Chalk Moneyline Parlay

Oklahoma -6000, Tulane -4500, Clemson -2000, Michigan State -2000, and Ohio State -904

Payout: $100 to win $27.25

There aren’t great odds for this moneyline parlay, but if you want to start off the season with what should be an easy win, look no further than this play. It’s very difficult to see any of the above five teams losing as they are all strong teams playing foes that are dealing with a lot of transition this offseason.

Oklahoma is a -6000 favorite over UTEP and should not struggle in Week 1 against UTEP given the talent disparity. It might be hard for the Sooners to cover 30.5 given what they lost in the offseason, but the Miners aren’t going to score more than 17 points on a Brent Venables defense.

It may seem a little unwise to bet on Tulane after the Green Wave went 2-10 last season, but this should be a six- or seven-win team in 2022. Willie Fritz has a solid group of starters on both sides of the ball, and the Green Wave are facing an awful UMass team.

Clemson was not great last year, but the Tigers still managed to win 10 games. D.J. Uiagalelei can only get better in his second season as the starter, while Georgia Tech is in a tough spot after losing its most talented player to Alabama in the offseason. The Yellow Jackets just don’t have the strength in the trenches to match up with the Tigers.

Michigan State is going to take a step back after an 11-2 season in 2021, but the Spartans won’t be losing to a Western Michigan team that does not have a proven quarterback.

The Broncos have two quarterbacks that threw a total of five passes last season, and that’s not a good position to be in against a Mel Tucker defense.

Finally, the last leg of the parlay is Ohio State. This is the riskiest bet of the bunch by the oddsmakers, but the Buckeyes stand little threat from the Fighting Irish.

Beehive State Parlay

Utah ML -143, BYU -10 -130

Payout: $100 to win $200.65

The two biggest programs in Utah will start their season in the Sunshine State. Utah will head to Gainesville to face Florida, while BYU travels to Tampa to take on South Florida. Both the Utes and the Cougars are favored, and they should be able to pick up road wins in Week 1.

Utah has a significant advantage in the trenches over Florida. The Gators were not great on defense last year, and Billy Napier knows that it will take some time to fix things on this side of the ball. The Utes have a great young quarterback in Cam Rising, and Tavion Thomas could consistently move the chains while running for 1,108 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2021.

It’s tough to back a double-digit road favorite, especially in Week 1, but BYU also has a strong advantage along the offensive and defensive lines. Jaren Hall is an excellent dual threat quarterback, and the Cougars can move the chains. Jeff Scott is just 1-18 against FBS opponents at USF, and the Bulls still have a lot of issues to fix.

Longshot Parlay

Old Dominion ML +230, Miami (OH) ML +534

Payout: $100 to win $1,992.20

The last time Virginia Tech went to Norfolk to face Old Dominion, the Hokies were stunned. The Monarchs won five straight games to end the regular season last year, and they won’t be a pushover on Friday night. This will be Brent Pry’s first game on the sidelines for V Tech, and that is likely to come with some hiccups.

Miami (OH) finished 7-6 last year and has one of the best quarterbacks in the MAC in Brett Gabbert. Meanwhile, Kentucky is extremely overrated, and the buzz about Will Levis is completely out of control. The Wildcats have to play Florida next week, so this is a lookahead spot for them, and that could lead to a slip up.
