Odds Analysis

There has been a lot of line movement on this game already, as the line opened with Georgia listed as a 4.5-point favorite with a total of 54.5. The public has been pounding Georgia and the game under the total. The Bulldogs are now a six-point choice and the total is down to 50.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Georgia Bulldogs Prediction

Alabama has won each of the last six meetings and they are 3-2-1 ATS in those games. This has been a high scoring series with eight of the last ten games going over the total. Georgia has not beaten Alabama since 2007 when they won by a score of 26-23.

Alabama and Georgia have played four common opponents this season and each team beat all four. Alabama’s margin of victory was 9.7 points, while Georgia’s was 28. The Tide were exposed a bit in the loss to Auburn, as their offense simply couldn’t move the ball, as the offensive line gave up seven sacks and 17 plays had zero or negative yards. The Alabama offensive line is going to have major problems against a great Georgia defense.

I have a lot of respect for Nick Saban but this year’s Alabama team is not great. They are still very good but they have flaws and I don’t know that a team with obvious flaws is going to beat Georgia. The Bulldogs are not great on offense, but they are good. Where the Bulldogs shine is on defense, as they are not just good, but great. I just can’t see Alabama putting up that many points. I don’t like following the public but I have to lay the points and take Georgia and also play the game under the total.
