League of Legends 2020 World Championship Group B Final Day Preview

League of Legends 2020 World Championship Group B Final Day Preview

The chalk has ruled this year’s League of Legends World Championship. We generally see a decent amount of upsets throughout the first week of the main event, but there have only been a couple surprising results this time. Currently, all the favorites are in position to get through to the knockout rounds, and that’s certainly looking likely in Group B. DAMWON Gaming and JD Gaming were massive favorites to make it to the quarterfinals per the Esports betting odds, and they can both punch their tickets in the first two games on Friday.

League of Legends 2020 World Championship Group B Final Day Betting Odds

DAMWON Gaming -1106

PSG Talon +589

This is the biggest mismatch in the group. DAMWON Gaming are now the overall favorites to win Worlds, while PSG Talon do not look as strong as they did in the Play-In Stage with River and Tank back in the lineup. DAMWON had a bit of trouble against Talon in their first meeting, but a Nuguri flank and ult on Kennen ensured that they would pick up the win and remain unbeaten. It’s tough to see DAMWON losing this time, as their best player Hanabi has to lane against Nuguri.

JD Gaming -430

Rogue +303

If DAMWON win the first game, and JDG win this game, the only thing on the line for the next four games is positioning. DAMWON and JDG are currently in the driver’s seat when it comes to the spots in the knockout rounds, but Rogue have the potential to pull off an upset or two. Larssen has played well in his Worlds debut, and Inspired has had some strong play too. The top lane matchup between Zoom and Finn is a huge mismatch though.

DAMWON Gaming -845

Rogue +507

The LCK’s No. 1 seed broke out something new in the first meeting between these two teams. Top laner Nuguri played Lulu for the first time all year, showing that he doesn’t have to play carry champions in order to thrive. Canyon nearly secured a Flame Horizon against Inspired in the jungle though, as DAMWON used their superior farm to control this low-kill game. Rogue will take more risks this time, and they will need to make some things happen in the early game to pull off the upset.

JD Gaming -692

PSG Talon +440

This game shouldn’t be close. JDG smashed Talon when these teams met last week, finishing the game in a little over 23 minutes. Talon could only manage to pick up three kills, as Yagao and Kanavi showcased their jungle-mid synergy. There is a chance of Talon pulling off the upset though, as JDG might have nothing to play for by this point.

Rogue -206

PSG Talon +158

Rogue completely dominated Talon earlier in this tournament. They only allowed the top team from the PCS to register a tower kill and a drake, not surrendering a death in a sub-30 minute win. Finn had his best game of Worlds, hitting some huge ultimates on Malphite, while Inspired proved he can successfully play Evelyn.

DAMWON Gaming -188

JD Gaming +146

The odds for this one could shift quite a bit in the hours leading up to the match. These teams are likely to have nothing to play for in the Group B finale, and that could lead to a completely wild draft. Both of these teams are insanely talented on the micro level, so players would likely opt in to a very fast-paced, frenetic style that could lead to either team winning.
