League of Legends 2020 LEC Summer Split Week 3 Preview

League of Legends 2020 LEC Summer Split Week 3 Preview

Order has been restored in the LEC after a wild first week. Five of the six playoff teams from the Spring Split have winning records, and Misfits Gaming isn’t far behind at 2-3. In an interesting twist, all six of the teams over .500 will square off against another team with a winning record this Friday, while the four teams with losing records will look to get needed victories against fellow bottom feeders.

Excel Esports -165

FC Schalke 04 +131

This is a must-win game for Schalke. Everyone was expecting a better start to the Summer Split for this organization after a promising end to the spring, but instead they are the only team in Europe that is winless through its first five games. They decided to switch up their bottom lane last week by playing Neon and Dreams together instead of Innaxe and Nukes, yet that hasn’t led to a real difference.

Neither team has had great play out of the mid lane, jungle, or top lane, and they both rely on their bottom lane to carry. While Patrik and Tore are likely better than their counterparts, the frequency with which Special and Kryze get caught out is alarming, so take your chances with Schalke as an underdog.

Misfits Gaming -190

Team Vitality +150

Both these teams have a win over a top team and a victory over Schalke to their credit coming into this game. However, they have to be feeling differently about where they are sitting at this point in the season. For Vitality, they are likely to be somewhat relieved as they were the worst team in the LEC during the spring, and they made three changes to their lineup in the offseason. Meanwhile, Misfits are likely disappointed as Kobbe was supposed to take them to another level.

Kobbe has played well and is the hard carry for Misfits since coming back to Europe, but his bottom lane partner Doss has struggled and Razork hasn’t made the impact he did in the spring. Vitality stand a decent chance of pulling off the upset.

G2 Esports -500

SK Gaming +351

After a dismal first week, G2 thrashed both of their opponents in Week 2. The reigning European and MSI champions defeated Schalke and Rogue in 30 minutes, and they showed us some new tricks. Caps played Twisted Fate into the mid lane and Wunder put on a show with Kayle, making SK’s job even more difficult this week as they prepare to face the best team in Europe.

SK are elated to be 3-2 after a dismal performance in spring, but this team is largely dependent on ZaZee and Crownshot to carry the day. ZaZee has a 7.8 KDA, while Crownshot is responsible for a whopping 34.3 percent of his team’s damage. Expect both those numbers to go down.

Origen -115

MAD Lions -115

It’s been a strange start to the season for Origen. They were able to upset the two teams that have given them the most trouble in G2 and Fnatic, but they have surprisingly lost to both SK and Misfits. Origen continue to play the heavily defensive style that has defined them over the last couple years, and MAD Lions know what to expect when they meet on Friday.

The Lions have been one the most creative teams in the LEC through the first two weeks of summer. They have been playing fasting Senna with Wukong in the bottom lane, and they have further prioritized Wukong by taking him into the top lane. Shadow remains one of the top junglers in the region, but Origen will likely keep his famed Lee Sin out of his hands.

Fnatic -190

Rogue +150

I love Rogue at this price. This team’s lone loss came against G2, but they are being overlooked since all their wins were against teams with losing records. There’s no doubt this team is talented though as Vander currently has a 27 KDA, and Larssen has been exceptional in the mid lane. Provided Finn can hold off Bwipo, Rogue can move to 5-1 with a win over Fnatic.
