League of Legends 2020 LCS Summer Split Week 9 Preview

League of Legends 2020 LCS Summer Split Week 9 Preview

What has happened to Cloud9? The runaway Spring Split champions have completely fallen apart after a 9-0 start to the Summer Split, and they are no longer the favorites to win consecutive LCS titles. They have lost five of their last seven matches, including three straight games, and they are now in line for the No. 2 seed provided they can hold off Team SoloMid in the last week of the regular season. Team Liquid will lock up the No. 1 seed throughout playoffs with a win in either one of their two games, and they would love to check that box on Saturday against Immortals.

League of Legends 2020 LCS Summer Split Week 9 Betting Odds

Team Liquid -575

Immortals +350

This line is more than a little curious considering what we’ve seen from these two squads this year. Immortals are likely to miss the playoffs as arguably the worst team in the league, while Liquid are in line for the No. 1 seed. Liquid have won 10 of their last 11 matches coming into this weekend, but they did have trouble in their first meeting with Immortals as Insanity’s Orianna gave Jensen issues in the mid lane.

That’s unlikely to happen again as the rest of Immortals just can’t contend with Liquid. Broxah has been much more sound in the jungle than Xmithie, and Allorim can only play tanks in the top lane. Insanity is dealing 33.6 percent of his damage per Games of Legends, but he will need an otherworldly performance for Immortals to pull off this upset.

Golden Guardians -140

Evil Geniuses +105

The Guardians locked up a playoff berth last week, and they are riding high. Their stunning upset of Cloud9 last Saturday caught everyone off guard, as Damonte was simply too overpowering on Syndra. FBI and Huhi have evolved into a rather impressive bottom lane too, rewarding the coaching staff for having the courage to move Huhi into a support role.

Evil Geniuses continue to use Goldenglue in the mid lane over Jiizuke in order to play Huni in the top lane. That decision seemed inspired at first, but this team has since lost three straight matches. Huni is dealing out tons of damage in the top lane (28.3 percent), but that isn’t translating into victories as he isn’t playing tanks at all. It will be interesting to see who starts and who sits for the Geniuses here.

FlyQuest -385

Counter Logic Gaming +260

CLG are in disarray. They have lost six straight matches after a surprising start to the Summer Split, and they are in danger of missing out on the postseason once more. They have the misfortune of facing FlyQuest and C9 this week, so there is a real danger of being caught by Dignitas or Immortals.

Ruin had his best game of the split the first time CLG took on FlyQuest, but it wasn’t enough for them to get the win. It’s unlikely that happens again as Ruin has been arguably the weakest top laner in the region, so FlyQuest are the play no matter who is in the bottom lane.

100 Thieves -210

Dignitas +150

The Thieves have been one of the most frustrating teams in the region this split. More was expected of them after a strong Spring Split finish, but they have been all over the place. They were the first team to beat Cloud9 in the Summer Split and knocked off FlyQuest, yet they have had problems with consistency.

This is a quick turnaround for Dignitas after playing on Friday night, and they are likely to have motivation issues ahead of this match given they will probably be out of the playoff picture. That makes the Thieves the play here.
