The Dallas Empire won the last Call of Duty event two weeks ago, topping the Atlanta FaZe at COD League: Chicago. However, Atlanta is the favorite coming into this week’s event that was scheduled to be in Florida as the Empire and the Chicago Huntsmen aren’t slated to play. Those three teams have won four of the five tournaments played to date in the COD League, and they have advanced to the knockout rounds in every week of action. That makes this Atlanta’s tournament to lose, and a victory here would push them ahead of Chicago and Dallas in the overall standings halfway through the season.

Atlanta still holds the best game record in the COD League with a 36-13 mark in individual games. That’s good enough for a 73 percent win percentage, but the FaZe were up and down two weeks ago. They smashed the London Royal Ravens in a 3-0 sweep in their first game, yet they needed all five games to get past New York in their second game. Atlanta was strong against Seattle in the semifinals, beating the Surge 3-1, but this team lost by the same scoreline to Dallas in the final.
Simp and Cellium are both ranked in the top three in terms of overall KDA coming into this event. Simp’s 1.58 KDA puts him just 0.02 back of the league leader, while Cellium’s 1.34 KDA is slightly better than that of former World Championship MVP FormaL.
The FaZe have been excellent in Hardpoint and Search and Destroy, but their play in Domination has left something to be desired. Fortunately, while teams play two maps of Hardpoint and SnD, there is only one map of Domination per series, giving Atlanta an edge.
New York surprised everyone with its performance two weeks ago. No one gave the Subliners much of a chance of getting out of a group that had Atlanta and Chicago in it, but this team upset the Huntsmen in their first series before taking the FaZe to all five games. They looked set to get past the Huntsmen in their second meeting, but a last-second triple cap in Domination stunned the Subliners and led to a demoralized performance in Game 4.
The Subliners have now had a chance to see what went wrong in those series. They have a favorable matchup in their first game, but New York is in a group with Florida and Minnesota, and I don’t like this team as the presumptive favorite after one decent performance. Minnesota and Florida have been more consistent throughout the year, so don’t back the Subliners at this price.
Florida did not take part in the event two weeks ago, but the Mutineers won the event before that. They knocked off Chicago and Minnesota to win COD League: Dallas a month ago, as Skyz and Maux popped off that weekend.
The Mutineers are worth a play at 5-1. They aren’t in the same group as Atlanta, and they have had a few weeks to prepare new strategies that no team has counters for quite yet. We have seen both Atlanta and Dallas win a COD League event after a bye week, and Florida has a decent chance to do the same.
Minnesota is worth a play at these odds too. The ROKKR have made it to the knockout round of every COD League event to date, and they finished runner-up in the last two events they entered. Assault has been one of the top players in the league, and GodRx has shined as well.
