This is set to be the best Superweek in the history of the LEC. Eight teams are fighting for five playoff spots this weekend as the MAD Lions and Team BDS are the only two European teams that already know their fates. MAD Lions clinched a playoff spot despite losing both their games last week, while Team BDS have been eliminated from postseason contention with a 2-13 record. Just three games separate the other eight teams in the region, so this stands to be an incredible final week of action.

The hottest team in the LEC right now is Misfits Gaming. Misfits have won four straight matches to improve to 9-6, and mid laner Vetheo is taking over games once more in the mid lane. He is tied for the LEC lead with five MVPs, and he is dealing 27.2% of his team’s damage per Games of Legends. The decision to move Zanzarah into the jungle over Shlatan has paid dividends as Zanzarah has been very good on tank junglers like Poppy, helping Vetheo gank and helping the team in skirmishes.
Team BDS are just playing out the string now. They have been the worst team in the LEC throughout the Summer Split. BDS could do something surprising in the last week with nothing on the line, but there just isn’t enough talent to feel confident backing this squad.

It’s wild to consider that Fnatic might miss the playoffs and not even have a chance to qualify for Worlds. Fnatic are currently 7-8, and they don’t have the head-to-head tiebreaker with Excel Esports after losing both of their matches to Excel this split. This is their easiest opponent in their three remaining games, and they can’t afford a loss to Astralis.
Astralis have already lost to Fnatic once this year, so a second loss would almost certainly eliminate them from playoff contention. They are somewhat fortunate to be in contention with the third-worst gold differential per minute in the league, but they have made a habit of knocking off teams that were considered better.

If Excel Esports are going to make their second trip to the postseason, they need to put a halt to their losing streak ASAP. Excel hold the edge of the three 7-8 teams vying for a playoff spot, but they have lost four straight matches coming into the final week of the regular season. They were known as a team that made the right adjustments with new patches, yet they suffered a bad loss to Team BDS last week that really hurt their postseason chances.
Rogue can lock up a playoff spot with a win in this game. They continue to confound with a win over MAD Lions and a loss to SK Gaming last week, but they have an elite mid laner and a strong bottom lane. That should be enough to lead them past Excel here.

A loss for SK Gaming would likely eliminate them from playoff contention. SK Gaming are currently a game behind Astralis, Excel, and Fnatic for the final postseason spot. They are behind the eight ball with games against Vitality, G2 Esports, and Excel, and Vitality have a very good chance of essentially dropping their chances to zero on Friday. Perkz has been excellent in the mid lane, and the team has started to finally come along even if Alphari has not been great in the top lane.

This is a potential Summer Split Finals showdown. G2 Esports are the reigning champions, while MAD Lions have looked like the best team in the region this season despite their hiccups in Week 7. MAD Lions have a great read on the meta, and Elyoya and Nisqy have played extremely well together.
