2022 League of Legends LEC Spring Split Betting Preview

2022 League of Legends LEC Spring Split Betting

This has been one of the busiest offseasons in League of Legends history. There have been a ton of movements, and even the best players in Europe and other regions have changed teams. That has led to a changing of the guard, and Team Vitality comes into the 2022 season as the favorites despite being a middle of the pack team for the last few years. Storied teams like Fnatic and G2 Esports are further down the list, as they have lost some of their stars.

Star jungler Selfmade joined Team Vitality before the start of the 2021 LEC Summer Split, and he is one of the mainstays on this roster. Vitality has been rumored to be adding top laner Alphari, mid laner Perkz, and bottom laner Carzzy, and that would indeed make them the favorites going into next year. Perkz is one of the most storied players in the history of Europe, while Carzzy has been one of the region’s best bottom laners over the last couple years.

Bwipo and Adam have both left Fnatic this offseason. Both players reportedly had issues with the team’s management, leading to their departure from one of the most storied teams in the LEC. Nisqy, Upset, and Hylissang are still on the roster, but there are questions that need to be answered about their other starters. Razork is rumored to be the team’s jungler next year, and Wunder is reportedly going to be the top laner. That would make them extremely competitive once more.

MAD Lions are the defending LEC champions and have won the last two European titles. They are losing Carzzy this offseason, but four of their five starters are under contract with the team until 2023. Humanoid has dazzled in the mid lane, while Armut and Elyoya have been valued additions since coming over in last November. However, the faults of the latter two players were somewhat discovered at the last World Championships.

It’s been an offseason of change for G2 Esports. Wunder, Rekkles, Mikyx, and head coach Grabbz are all gone, leaving just jungler Jankos and mid laner Caps. While Caps is arguably the best at his position in the region, Jankos has fallen off considerably. Former highly regarded top laner Broken Blade has been linked to join the team, and the new bottom lane will reportedly feature Flakked and Targamas. The latter players were in regional leagues in 2021, but Europe’s regional leagues proved to have a bevy of talent.

Rogue parted ways with jungler Inspired despite extending his contract back in August. He signed with Evil Geniuses earlier this month, joining former bottom laner Hans Sama in North America. Larssen is still entrenched as the team’s mid laner, but there isn’t that much talent around him anymore. Top laner Odoamne is a decent player, but he is not a game changer. That will put pressure on Trymbi to make a lot of things happen in support.

This could be the year that Excel Esports finally make the postseason. Excel have never finished in the top six since joining the LEC in 2019, but they have kept their lineup together for the most part. They should be a crowd favorite once fans are allowed for the first time in nearly two years.
