2022 League of Legends LCK Spring Split Betting

The oddsmakers only like three teams going into the 2022 LCK Spring Split. The top three Korean teams in 2021 are the overwhelming favorites heading into the start of the season in January, while the other seven LCK teams are 16-1 or more.

That means there is significant value if you can pick the right underdog to back.

DWG KIA have won three straight LCK titles and finished runner-up to Edward Gaming at the 2021 League of Legends World Championship. They are bringing back their two standout players for 2022, but they will also have three new starters as Khan, Ghost, and Beryl have all left the organization.

Canyon and ShowMaker are two of the best players at their position in the world. Canyon has probably been the best jungler over the last two years, and ShowMaker has been at minimum one of the top three mid laners. Bottom lane could be improved as Deokdam proved to be a very good AD Carry for Nongshim Red Force in 2021, and he has familiarity with his support Kellin. The major question is top lane as Burdol and Hoya were both signed to try and replace Khan.

The team with the highest potential is Gen.G. They have put together an all-star roster, but the only player that is certainly in his prime is mid laner Chovy. Peanut is one of the all-time best junglers in the history of League of Legends, but he isn’t as much of a difference maker as he was with ROX Tigers and SK Telecom T1 back in the day. The bottom lane is interesting too as veteran Ruler will be paired with the once promising support Lehends.

T1 has the most fans of any team in the LCK thanks to the presence of Faker and three World Championships. It’s a little surprising to see them at over 5-1 to win the LCK Summer Split as there is talent at every position. Faker proved he can still play at an elite level, and Oner was a real difference maker in the jungle. Gumayusi is a bottom laner that can dominate, and Keria might be the best support in the league. The big question mark is top laner Zeus because this can be a championship team if he plays well.

It’s tough to see what makes Nongshim Red Force the best of the rest in Korea. This is an entirely new roster, and the only very good player is BDD in the mid lane. Ghost is a much maligned bottom laner and Effort has been hit or miss at support. Canna and Dread are decent, but this isn’t a team to back early in the year.

The better bet is the recently renamed Afreeca Freecs. The Kwangdong Freecs have a very good top laner in Kiin, and a potentially solid bottom lane with Teddy/Leo and Hoit. If FATE can take a step forward, this team has a chance to turn a lot of heads in the Spring Split.

DRX might be worth a longshot at 40-1. This was the worst team in the LCK last year with a 2-16 record in the 2021 Summer Split, but there is reason to believe they can turn it around. Deft and Beryl should be a formidable bottom lane, and Pyosik can be an impactful jungler with better talent around him.
