2021 LPL Regional Finals Betting Odds

China’s last two spots in the League of Legends World Championship will be decided this weekend. FunPlus Phoenix and Edward Gaming have both already qualified for Worlds as a result of facing off in the LPL Summer Split Finals. Four teams are fighting for the last two spots in this weekend’s LPL Regional Finals, but the two teams squaring off first will have a better chance of making it to Worlds.

The winner of Friday’s match between Royal Never Give Up and Team WE will automatically qualify for Worlds. However, the loser of that match is not eliminated as they will face the winner of LNG Esports’ series with Rare Atom on Sunday for the final LPL spot at the premier event of the year.

Royal Never Give Up -182

Team WE +135

We saw Royal Never Give Up suffer a stunning defeat to LNG Esports in the LPL Summer Split Playoffs. However, RNG are expected to shake off that loss against Team WE in the first match of the Regional Finals.

Former mid laner Xiaohu has been a very good top laner for RNG. He dealt 26.4% of his team’s damage in the Summer Split per Games of Legends, and he helped make Viego top lane part of the meta. As a former mid laner, he has a deep champion pool, giving him an advantage over Breathe.

The showdown in the mid lane is going to be interesting. Team WE’s Shanks was very reliant on Sylas in the regular season. He played 12 games on that champion and didn’t play more than four games on any other pick. Meanwhile, Cryin largely depended upon mid laners Twisted Fate and Orianna as he is the best on control mages.

There was a lot of consistency in the champion picks of the bottom laners too. Team WE’s Elk played 18 games on Ezreal (8.1 KDA) and didn’t play more than six games on any other champion. RNG’s Gala favored Ezreal the second-most, but he preferred Varus and played 18 games of that champion.

All this means that draft strategy will have a bigger role than usual in this series. That gives Team WE an edge given what we have seen from their drafts in the playoffs, so they are the pick here.

LNG Esports -115

Rare Atom -115

The star of LNG Esports is jungler Tarzan. The Korean import was pivotal to LNG’s playoff run, posting a 4.1 KDA while doing 19.5% of his team’s damage. He showed a lot of depth in his champion pool, but he was very impressive on Lee Sin, Volibear, and Zac. That gives Rare Atom a lot to prepare for in this series.

FoFo was fantastic for Rare Atom this season. The mid laner shined on assassin champions like LeBlanc and Akali, and he posted a 6.0 KDA in the Summer Split. He was one of RA’s two All-Pro selections along with support Hang.

When these teams met two months ago, Rare Atom won both games. However, that was largely due to FoFo’s play on LeBlanc as he dealt 41% of his team’s damage in Game 1 and his play on Akali in Game 2 with eight kills, six assists, and no deaths.

The rest of LNG has improved significantly over the last two months, and Tarzan should make the biggest impact of any player in this series. That will lead to Rare Atom’s season coming to an end.
