It’s win or go home time in the LEC. This is the last week of the LEC Summer Split, and it will be jampacked with action as teams play on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to determine the final standings for 2021. FC Schalke 04 are the only team eliminated from postseason contention, but Team Vitality, SK Gaming, Excel Esports, and Astralis are fighting for just one additional playoff spot. That will make Week 8 exciting from start to finish.

Let’s pour one out for FC Schalke 04 Esports. Their LEC spot was sold to Team BDS as the soccer club is facing a mountain of debt, so this will be their last week participating in the top tier of League of Legends in Europe. They have been part of the LEC since May 2016, and their miracle playoff run last summer was one of the most feel-good stories in the league.
This is a must-win game for Team Vitality. They are tied with SK Gaming and one game behind Excel and Astralis in the race for the last playoff spot. Vitality have lost four straight games, and a loss to Schalke at this point would probably be too much to overcome.

A win for Astralis here would be enormous for their playoff hopes. They have the easiest path to the playoffs as they face SK Gaming, Excel Esports, and Team Vitality this week, giving them a chance to best all of their rivals for the last spot without having to take on one of the top five teams in the region.
Meanwhile, this is a must-win game for SK Gaming. Their other two opponents this week are Rogue and Misfits Gaming, and they will be prohibitive underdogs in both games. They fell to Astralis earlier this split, so a loss here would almost certainly eliminate them from playoff contention.

The best team in the LEC at this point is Rogue. They are 11-4 and one game ahead of the pack for the No. 1 seed. They have the benefit of playing three bottom half teams this week, so they stand a great chance of grabbing the top overall spot entering the LEC Summer Split Playoffs. Hans Sama, Larssen, and Inspired have all played great, and Trymbi has flourished at support.
Excel are looking to break a postseason drought. They have yet to make the playoffs in their previous five splits in the LEC, and they don’t want to squander another opportunity. It won’t be easy considering their other games are against G2 Esports and Astralis, but an upset here would be enormous. That is an unlikely proposition though.
G2 Esports -115
MAD Lions -115
It hasn’t been a great season for G2, but they have qualified for the playoffs. The former Kings of Europe toppled the current kings earlier this split, yet they have plenty of flaws and may miss out on the World Championships despite being heavy favorites in the LEC back in January. That would likely lead to a major shakeup with the roster.
MAD Lions are in a strange position. They have taken a bit of a step back from what we saw in spring, and they are somewhat predictable, but they have the potential to turn it on and win another split title. Elyoya is playing well in the jungle once again, and this match will likely turn on his early skirmishing.
Fnatic -135
Misfits Gaming +102
After a brutal Spring Split, Fnatic have come alive in the Summer Split. They have found their identity, and Upset has shined in the bottom lane. The key to their success has been new top laner Adam though, as he is quickly making a reputation for himself in the LEC.
Misfits knocked off Fnatic earlier in the year, but they have largely struggled against the best teams. While this team is 8-1 against the bottom five, Misits are 2-4 against other top five teams.
