2021 LEC Championship Semifinals Betting Preview

2021 LEC Championship Semifinals Betting

Where were you when Fnatic eliminated G2 Esports to claim Europe’s last spot at the World Championship? Fnatic and G2 played an epic five-game series last Sunday for the right to qualify for Worlds, and Fnatic emerged victorious thanks to a surprise Darius pick from top laner Adam. The rookie had seven kills and seven assists compared to just two deaths on the champion in a Fnatic romp. Now, G2 Esports must face a very uncertain offseason. G2 was a heavy favorite to win the LEC once again in 2021, but the eight-time champions never put it together despite splurging to acquire Rekkles in an attempt to win Worlds.

2021 LEC Championship Semifinals Betting Odds

Fnatic -115

Rogue -115

After dealing with COVID two weeks ago, Adam looked much better in last week’s win against G2. Fnatic’s top laner really struggled against Team Vitality while sick, leading to the team nearly losing that series, but he shined against Wunder on Sunday. Adam only had a 3.1 KDA, but he was second on the team in Damage Per Minute per Games of Legends. He has the opportunity to get the better of veteran Odoamne in this series too.

Odoamne is the most seasoned top laner in Europe. He began his career in 2013, and he has been part of eight different organizations. He has been very consistent during his time as a pro, but he can no longer dominate in lane like we saw in the past. That gives Adam and Fnatic the edge at this position.

Rogue certainly have the edge in the mid lane and the jungle. Larssen and Inspired have been an incredible tandem. Larssen leads the team with a 5.9 KDA, and he has dealt out over 25% of his team’s damage. His ability to play assassins and control mages exceptionally well has made Rogue one of the best teams in Europe.

Meanwhile, Inspired has been exceptional on Viego and other champions. His Pentakill on Viego clinched Rogue’s place at Worlds, and he is probably the best jungler in the region. Although he has a 4.1 KDA this postseason, his play is a humongous reason why Rogue have made it to this point.

Fnatic don’t have the same talent at either position. Although Bwipo has overachieved in the jungle, he is still playing out of position and is prone to make mistakes. We haven’t seen any egregious smite mishaps, but he isn’t as impactful as Inspired.

Additionally, although Nisqy gets too much heat when Fnatic loses, he isn’t the same caliber of mid laner as Larssen. Nisqy is an above average mid laner to be sure, yet he is clearly the third-best of the three teams still competing for the LEC Championship.

The bottom lane is a huge advantage for Fnatic though. Upset and Hylissang are the best bottom lane in Europe. Although Hylissang can make some head-scratching moves and is a little too overaggressive, it works out for Fnatic more often than not. His playmaking really helps Upset thrive on this team, and other teams have raved about this duo in scrims throughout the split.

Hans Sama and Trymbi have been an upper half bottom lane. However, Hans Sama has never been a truly elite AD Carry and Trymbi is still growing into the support role. That puts them a tier under Fnatic.

Prediction

The oddsmakers have chosen no favorite, but Fnatic should have a slight advantage. Although they were worse in the regular season, they have been resilient in the playoffs.
