2021 LEC Championship Round 1 Betting Preview

2021 LEC Championship Round 1 Betting

Six teams are vying for the LEC Summer Split Championship and one of three spots at the League of Legends World Championships. However, it will be a tough road to hoe for two of those squads. Fnatic and Team Vitality are in the Losers’ Bracket, and the winner of their match will need to defeat two teams from the Winners’ Bracket in order to make it to Worlds. It will be a much easier path for the other four teams, as winning their first-round series will automatically send them to the semifinals and lock up a trip to Worlds. Rogue is a substantial favorite over Misfits Gaming on Friday, but the most intriguing matchup of the week will pit G2 Esports against MAD Lions on Saturday.

2021 LEC Championship Round 1 Betting Odds

Rogue -413

Misfits Gaming +277

Rogue edged out the other three teams to be the best squad in the LEC during the regular season. They have been on the cusp of winning their first league title for over a year now, and they stand a good chance of finally raising their first banner. Trymbi has been a superb support in his rookie season, but the key to this team is the play of jungler Inspired and mid laner Larssen. Larssen has been superb on Twisted Fate this split, while Inspired is dealing a lot of damage for a jungler.

It’s going to be difficult for Misfits Gaming to pull off the upset. Top laner Hirit hasn’t been as reliable with Viego and Gwen losing some of their potency, and Razork has had some struggles in the jungle too. Although Vetheo has done a good job in the mid lane, he will find it hard to match up with Larssen, so any upset bid will likely come through the bottom lane.

G2 Esports -147

MAD Lions +111

We saw MAD Lions end G2’s reign over Europe in the Spring Split, and they are not intimidated by the most successful team in European history. They have had a few hiccups this year after winning the Spring Split title, but they have the potential to knock off G2 once more. The performances of Armut and Humanoid have been somewhat disappointing though, and the latter has had a hard time on champions aside from Akali.

This is not what we expected from G2 in 2021. They were heralded as the best team in the history of Europe after adding Rekkles, but they have continually stumbled. Caps has been inconsistent in the mid lane, and both Wunder and Jankos have had their issues after being rock solid for the last few years. Rekkles has thrived though with a league-high 8.7 KDA thanks to some fantastic Tristana games.

Team Vitality +199

Fnatic -277

It’s certainly been a disappointing year for Fnatic. They have fallen from their perch as one of the top teams in Europe, and they will now have to run the gauntlet in order to win the split. They have the potential to do just that if everything comes together, but Fnatic’s play has been erratic all year. Adam has been somewhat held in check after a strong debut in the top lane, and Bwipo’s move to the jungle hasn’t paid the dividends we thought it might early in the split.

Vitality lost both of their matches against Fnatic in the Summer Split. They don’t have near the same talent at any position except jungle, so it will be on former Fnatic jungler Selfmade to lead his new team past his old team.
