2018 CS:GO ECS Season Six Finals

Next week, eight of the best CS:GO teams in the world will square off in Arlington, Texas for the right to be declared the champions of ECS Season Six. As the name indicates, we are in our sixth season of ECS and the Esports Championship Series is still going strong after being founded in 2015. European organizations have largely dominated the proceedings with Astralis winning two titles, Faze Clan winning one title, and G2 Esports winning one title, and SK Gaming are the only team to have ever won from North America. A North American team would immediately become legends if they were to win, and teams like Team Liquid know that. However, two-time champion Astralis are the odds-on favorite ahead of this competition.

2018 CS:GO ECS Season Six Betting Odds

Astralis -125 NRG +1600
Team Liquid +350 MiBR +1600
Mousesports +750 North +2000
Ninjas in Pyjamas +1400 Cloud9 +2500

It’s been another fantastic year for Astralis. The have won over $2 million in prize money this year with some incredible performances across the world. They won DreamHack Marseille, ESL Pro League Season 7, ECS Season 5, the ELEAGUE, FACEIT: London, BLAST: Istanbul, and last week they crushed Team Liquid in the finals of IEM XIII Chicago.

They were incredibly dominant during their run to the top of the Season Six Europe standings, finishing 17-1 on the year. Astralis had the chance to finish the regular season undefeated too, but they knew they had done what they needed to do to clinch the No. 1 seed and that led to them getting knocked off by Team LDLC in their penultimate game. They have taken off since Kjaerbye departed for North, and dev1ce has been incredible since his return.

Liquid are seen as the team with the best chance to knock off Astralis, and they are America’s best hope for winning another ECS Finals. They didn’t perform well during the ECS Season Six regular season, finishing fourth, but they have had some good showings recently. They have finished in the top four of each of their last five premier events, and you have to commend that consistency. However, they have yet to prove they can beat Astralis, getting eliminated by them in five different tournaments this year.

Interestingly enough, North have pretty long odds of winning ECS Season Six despite finishing second in the ECS Europe regular season this time around. They have won three tournaments this year, and they did knock off Astralis at DreamHack Stockholm in September. However, people seem down on North as they have made some recent roster changes. Cadian and Gade were brought onto the team six weeks ago, and there have been some chemistry issues to overcome with two new players in the lineup.

If you’re looking for a longshot to bet, look no further than NRG. NRG did finish with the best record in the ECS North America region for Season Six, and they beat Cloud9 2-0 and Liquid 2-0. This is a veteran team that has been together for quite some time, so they do not have the chemistry issues that other teams with recent additions must overcome. They have been playing well too, and NRG were able to stay in the winner’s bracket the whole time on their way to claiming first place at Beyond The Summit’s third iteration two weeks ago at the Summit House in Los Angeles.
