Dmitry Bivol vs. Jean Pascal Fight Preview

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has made a comeback as far as big-time boxing returning to Atlantic City for the first time in four years. There was a sellout crowd there for the August 4 event that featured Dmitry Bivol and another one is expected this time as Bivol returns for his second straight fight there.

Although Bivol has built up a dominant resume and record, long time fans recall when Pascal was at the top of the Light Heavyweight class as champion. Bivol in fact acknowledges the championship pedigree of Pascal.

“Not too long ago, Pascal fought for three world titles and I watched on TV,” said Bivol. “Now he wants to take my title away, and I am very happy to accept this challenge and look forward to my next title defense on HBO.

“Its very important for me,” said Bivol. “It’s every boxer’s dream to be the champion, the unified champion. It’s a big step to dream about.”

Pascal in fact was briefly retired before coming back to the ring in July when he moved up to Cruiserweight and knocked out Steve Bosse, who was a former MMA fighter and minor league hockey player in what was a novelty bout.

After knocking out Bosse, Pascal was slated to fight once again in the Cruiserweight class against Gary Kopas. But Pascal decided to instead fight for the world championship against Bivol.

Pascal sees the fight against Bivol as an opportunity for the Hall of Fame and to reestablish himself as one of the best Light Heavyweights of all time.

“This is the most important fight of my life and I could not be more motivated,” said Pascal. “I’m making boxing history on November 24th. I’m known as a champion who never turned down any challenges but I want to be a two-time champion and I want to be immortalized in the Hall of Fame when my career is over. To fully cement my status as a Hall of Famer, I must win this fight and I will win this fight.”

While Pascal acknowledges Bivol’s success he predicts victory not just for him but for Canada.

Boxing Betting Tips

Despite his bravado Pascal is not in his prime anymore. Adding to that issue is that Bivol is reaching his peak and may yet have a higher level he can attain. Bivol is the more proven current champion and with that in mind has the credibility to bet.
